Junior Developer Salary Range: £35k - £50k My client is looking for a junior developer to join their UK dev team, to help build the next generation of information control systems for the rail industry. It's a broad mix that covers control room applications, data acquisition and management, integration to rail industry systems, externally-facing APIs, digital signage and audio, mobile apps, and more. They're a Microsoft shop so all the usual suspects are covered: C#, WebApi and SQL Server. But we also like to push themselves, so Service Fabric and containerisation is in the mix. As is Cosmos. They don't have a large team, andaren't looking for someone to be anonymous. Passion and opinions count and will be welcomed. In return you'll be a whole lot closer to the decision making, and in the sort of environment where people and careers grow quickly. Initially there will be a bias towards back-end or non-browser development. But frankly you'll get involved to some degree with everything they do. Things you'll need - A real passion for good quality, well-structured code - A solid grounding in C# / HTML and a history of getting stuff done - Actual Interest in keeping up-to-date with what is happening in the industry Things we'd like you to have (but not essential) - Ambition and drive - We live in Azure, so anything you know about that is a bonus - Knowledge of design patterns, when and how to apply them - Any Typescript or more structured use of Javascript - A good couple of years of real-world work experience under your belt - A healthy disdain for those too eager to employ slang, innit What it's like working here All their non-dev people are in the UK along with part of the dev team. The rest of the dev team is in Canada. Their UK office is in Bracknell, but they're pretty comfortable with home-working. They get together when they need to. The rest of the time they live and breathe Slack and Skype. Don't expect to be spoon-fed. They're involved in some sizable, exciting projects andneed people who are comfortable taking ownership of whatever they are doing. Good people earn respect very quickly here. It's fast-paced, and they wouldn't have it any other way!
