Main Purpose of the Role The UK & Ireland Senior Tax Manager will work in a tax team of two, reporting into the Company CFO. The role will lead the in-housed tax function (UK) and provide tax compliance services within the UK & Ireland region whilst working to maintain the UK low risk status with HMRC. The successful candidate will also be required to provide support to the business in tax advisory and international tax projects. The UK and Ireland Senior Tax Manager will be able to demonstrate and extend their tax knowledge and technical abilities in a stretching and entrepreneurial environment. This is a mixed tax role which would suit a candidate ready to take responsibility for a region, whilst maintaining the detail of a technical role. Key Responsibilities - Oversight and responsibility for all taxes (except payroll) for the UK and Ireland Region - Owner of the HMRC relationship and responsible for preserving the low risk status - Owner of SAO, Criminal Corporate Offence and other relevant legislative provisions - Responsibility for ensuring the UK Tax Strategy is adhered to across the business - Supporting the business in commercial pursuits including tax review of commercial contracts and deal structures (including international considerations) - Supporting the Group Tax Team and global tax community on ad hoc projects and queries involving the region, e.g. BEPS Initiatives and cross border contracts - Tax technical research and drafting responses to ad hoc enquiries from the business covering indirect, direct and employment taxes. - Responsible for the proactive education of the Capgemini Group for relevant tax changes and their impact - Management and preparation of accurate transfer pricing documentation, including APA and MAP claims - Management of the Corporation Tax Compliance cycle including reviewing R&D tax relief claims - Review, and potential preparation, of tax provisions under IFRS as part of the quarterly reporting cycle and year end statutory reporting, including liaison with the Group Tax and Group Consolidations teams in Paris. - Management (and preparation as required) to support PAYE compliance (e.g. PSA, P11D, Form 42, s16 TMA 1970 Returns in relation to contractor payments). - Managing the VAT Compliance process, including 8^th Directive refunds and EC Sales Lists. Person Profile Essential - Qualified ACCA/ACA/CA/CTA with diverse post-qualification experience in a tax setting. - Experience in a tax-based role in-house (with previous exposure to corporate, employment and VAT desirable). - Good tax technical skills, with a solid background in compliance. - Exposure to UK restructuring, cross-border contracts and international tax (withholding taxes, permanent establishment, transfer pricing). - Microsoft Excel skills to a good standard (e.g. competent in pivot tables, vlookup, "IF" formulae etc). - Proactive and enthusiastic approach to their work with the ability to work to deadlines with an attention to detail. - Strong communication skills, with the ability to form strong relationships with key stakeholders, including HMRC, Group Tax and external advisors, as well as the ability to articulate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals. - An interest in expanding their career in tax within a commercial environment by taking on additional responsibility whilst maintaining a technical, practical role. - An ability to and desire to keep up to date with changes in the tax arena and to communicate these across a variety of stakeholders.
