Job Purpose The Developer is responsible for contributing to the development of financial analytic applications and internal systems. You will be a hands-on programmer, ideally with knowledge of financial markets and derivatives. The successful candidate will have experience of sound software development processes. They will be experienced and comfortable working in multiple programming languages (including Python, R and SQL) and development methodologies. They will likely have worked in financial services or start-up environments and are comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment. Responsibilities - Development of cutting edge FinTech tools and systems to enhance their financial analytics, reporting and risk management capabilities. - Application and understanding of data structures and software development to optimise existing tools and procedures through identifying and improving on inefficiencies. - Create scalable processes and systems for the internal and external applications, data infrastructure and integration with 3rd party services / systems. - Utilise probability, statistics, numerical methods and mathematical optimizations to enhance the product offering. Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications - Professional experience (>3yrs) years of commercial development experience with a track record of delivery of high quality software products. Some of that experience is at a start-up (or start-up like) - Exceptional Python and R programming skills A strong understanding of fundamental computer science - Experience in a light-weight, rapid turnaround engineering environment. - Inquisitive nature, ability to ask right questions and escalate issues - Risk & control mind-set - Team work oriented Desirable Skills, Experience and Qualifications: - MS degree in Maths, Finance, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar - Experience with derivatives risk systems or other systems based on the application of financial model - Experience in Javascript and HTML is a bonus
