We are looking for an experienced Regional Delivery Manager to supervise home deliveries in the South region overseeing the regional depots.

The role exists to manage the home delivery activity for Swindon and the Southern out-base sites in the JB Global distribution network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of personnel including; staffing levels, allocation of duties, holidays, communication briefings, discipline and grievance issues and overtime requests etc.
  • Control and monitor vehicle usage to ensure vehicle utilisation within the region
  • Accurately maintain records of vehicle movements including all exceptional duties
  • Utilise planning tools to plan deliveries and collections and to change these as necessary to meet service criteria and achieve Key Performance Indicators
  • Investigating variances between planned and actual performance
  • Review working practices and implement new initiatives
  • Interrogate systems to provide management information, determine and action any initiative arising from analysis
  • Analyse site performance against budget, exercise budget controls and recommend future budget proposals
  • Maintain and update knowledge on legislation and health and safety issues regarding drivers, staff and visitors and ensure the Company complies with current requirements
  • Investigate accidents, compile reports and recommend any action required
  • Team development and training
  • Build a workforce that is motivated and driven
  • Setting high standards and day to day management of the home delivery Managers within the region
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as required
Key skills and experience

  • Good analytical and numerical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills
  • Excellent communicator (verbal & written)
  • Previous Multi site experience in a logistics operation
  • Furniture home delivery experience
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, planning packages and email)
  • Knowledge of transport related legislative requirements
  • Previous budget experience
  • Previous experience of working in a unionised environment
  • High school/secondary education
  • Awareness of relevant driving qualifications
  • Good geographical knowledge of specific delivery area
Relevant Qualifications

Relevant H&S qualification (IOSHH or equivalent)
Diploma/Certificate in Logistics/Freight Forwarding

Hours required

Monday to Friday and as required to support the operation
