DevOps Engineer - Linux St Albans, UK £60,000 - £65,000 The DevOps Engineer position includes overall responsibility for the design, deployment and support of new implementations as well as maintaining, improving and scaling existing systems as part of a 3rd line support function. The DevOps Engineer will be able to design, develop, test, automate and administer entire solutions. Experience needed for DevOps Engineer: - Strong background in Linux Administration and networking - Prior experience with OpenStack, Azure, Cloud Foundry, VMWARE EXSi, vSphere. - Continuous integration tools such as Jenkins. - Docker knowledge and experience desirable. - Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef, Ansible or an equivalent - Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services - Good experience with SQL and PostgreSQL, MySQL - A working understanding of code and script (Python, Perl, Ruby, and/or Bash) Responsibilities of DevOps Engineer: - Work with DevOps Engineer leaders in other groups to define and align on standard operating procedures and best practices - Automate the provisioning of environments: cooking up some recipes with Chef or Ansible, and deploying Docker containers. - Developing and enabling continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) for search system components. - Frequent technologies used in this role would be: Elastic Cache, Chef, Docker, Linux Shell Scripting, Bash Scripting, and Jenkins. - Troubleshooting problems, involving the appropriate resources and driving resolution of issues with a focus on minimizing impact to our customers. - Provide on-call support and possibly some after-hours work as needed. - Participate in the Agile DevOps design, development, testing, and release of new capabilities and features with focus on release and post-production support. - Represent production support for the suite of apps in the domain in Agile stand-ups, planning sessions and deployment activities. - Drive improvements to processes and design enhancements to automation to continuously improve the production environment.
