Income Recovery Officer (12 Month Contract) Christchurch, Dorset £25,438 per annum Sovereign is a social business and one of the largest housing associations in the country. We provide over 55,000 homes for around 130,000 people in housing need across the south and south west of England and the Isle of Wight. We're also a major developer of affordable housing, building around 1,500 new homes each year to rent or buy. Sovereign was formed in November 2016, as the result of a merger between Spectrum Housing Group and Sovereign. ROLE (OVERVIEW) Sovereign Housing Association are looking to employ a highly motivated Income Recovery Officer to work within our Centralised Income Recovery Team in Christchurch, Dorset. In this role, you will be responsible for maximising the Association's income through proper and effective collection of rent and all other charges. You will also ensure that residents who have difficulties in paying are offered advice, support and assistance and referred to one of our Welfare Benefits Officers and/or an external debt advice agency as appropriate. RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY DUTIES - Effectively manage a caseload of rent/service charge accounts in line with the Groups Policies & Procedures - Attend County Court to represent the Group in Possession and other enforcement proceedings relating to arrears - Provide appropriate advice and support to residents to enable them to maintain clear rent accounts. ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE The Income Recovery Officer will need to have demonstrable experience in arrears collection, have strong literacy and numeracy skills and be able to communicate at all levels. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, have the ability to prioritise a busy role and be proficient in IT systems including Word, Excel and Outlook. A good understanding of changes in the Welfare Reform Act would be desirable. Due to a requirement to travel within this role, a current driving licence and your own transport is essential.
