Principal Electronic Systems Engineer
Would you like to play a key role in the development and delivery of Underwater Systems (UWS) for Royal Navy submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Electronic Systems Engineer at our site in Frimley.
As a Principal Electronic Systems Engineer, you will be working within a small team of UWS subject matter experts working the design and development of submarine combat systems. You will be responsible for the design and development of UWS to cost and schedule, in accordance with customer requirements.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Electronic Systems Engineer will involve:
The design and development of UWS such as sonar systems, working under the direction of the Senior Engineering Manager
Including liaising with subcontractors and customers on technical issues
Providing support to general UWS projects including document management and reviews, engineering governance and project lifecycle reviews
Developing an understanding of the wider UWS product and how it is designed and shaped
Undertaking requirements generation and technical acceptance, working with the customer to set out requirements
Participating in studies for future sonar and other UWS technologies
Working away on customer and BAE sites, when required
Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Electronic Systems Engineer:
HND or equivalent qualification or experience within electronic engineering (or similar discipline)
Experience of the systems design lifecycle
Understanding and experience of managing complex physical designs e.g. physical models, cabling data and interface documentation
Experience liaising and working with industrial partners/customers
Defence industry or UWS experience
Experience of systems integration

Maritime Submarines - Combat Systems
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century. It currently employs approximately 7,700 people, with 500 of these working for Combat Systems across our sites in Barrow-in-Furness, Ash Vale, Broad Oak, Filton, Frimley and Weymouth.
We are currently responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of the Royal Navy's latest and most capable generation of attack submarines, as well as their intelligent Combat Systems trusted to detect threats in the naval environment.
Our Combat Systems team designs, builds, integrates and supports all of the submarine combat systems in the UK fleet - essentially, the eyes and ears of each platform. We provide through-life support for combat systems, sensors and radars, and deliver complex programmes and technologies by applying expert programme management and world-class engineering.
