Scala Big Data Developer

Are you looking to move into a new role within the finance sector? Do you have the ability to deliver to tight deadlines? Can you demonstrate working in a highly agile environment? We would y like to hear from you if you are an excellent communicator both written and verbal and able to work independently and take ownership of your work. My clients are now in a position whereby they are looking to hire an experienced developer at AVP level.

You will be working directly with stakeholders to gain a better understanding of scenarios. It will be your responsibility to write the business requirements documents and User stories to capture the requirements and inform the technology build.

You will need to be educated to degree level achieving a minimum of 2:1 in an analytical subject as Physics, Maths, I.T or computer sciences. The successful candidate will also need to have a good understanding of basic risk management principles ideally with a primary focus on Market risk. Ideally you will have strong cross asset business knowledge for risk & scenarios including 1st & 2nd order sensitivities. You will also need to have recent commercial experience of using Scala.

The environment you will be working within is highly agile. You will also be working with Big data tools like Spark, Hive, HDFS & Hadoop. Ideally you will have some previous experience working in a front office technology team delivering non- trivial risk & scenario requirements. An advantage point would be having experience in B.I/ visualisation tools such as, Tableau, Cube, Power BI.
