Job Description:Experience in contract law, procurement, IT law. Main duties and responsibilities include:Contentious - Litigation: working as part of a team on high value contract disputes. Non-Contentious – working in procurement law, for example framework agreements and contracts. Successful management of complex high value cases. Ability to deal with complex public law cases. Ability to work to deadlines.Provide legal and policy advice to clients. Responsibility for contractual litigation and disputes.Responsibility of procurement law cases.Takes responsibility for own work with substantial degree of autonomy but knowing when to consult and to delegate.Displays an understanding of the resourcing requirements of own cases.Displays an understanding of the context the client operates in. Displays the professional attitude that client and company expect from a member of an organisation with a high reputation. Responds to reasonable client requests including agreeing achievable and realistic actions, timescales etc. Keeps abreast of legal developments and current thinking on related policy issues.
Key Tasks & Deliverables:The Government Legal Department is looking to recruit 2 commercial lawyers to join a team of lawyers based in the heart of Westminster advising a major government department. The team is expanding due to an increasing demand for commercial legal advice in government. You will be exposed to an exceptionally diverse workload as part of a friendly and supportive team delivering high-quality legal advice. The roles offer some of the most interesting, intellectually challenging and high-profile commercial in-house work available including: · implementing government policies through contracts · dealing with a variety of commercial work that impacts on the delivery of key public services · advising ministers and senior civil servants on legal options and · instructing and working with external law firms and barristers The successful candidates will: · have a minimum of two years’ experience of advising on high-value commercial contracts · be experienced in advising on complex, multi-strand, fast-moving projects · have strong negotiating and drafting skills · be able to deliver high-quality legal analysis at pace · have a flexible attitude and ability to advise on a range of commercial matters · have a proven track record of working well with clients at all levels · be a strong team player with a collaborative approach and also the ability to work independently Experience advising on public procurement law or in a commercial in-house role is required.

Please Note: The lower pay rate advertised in this job description is the PAYE daily pay rate. The higher pay rate advertised in this job description is the highest Umbrella Company daily pay rate that the client is willing to pay up to.
