We are currently recruiting for self-employed engineers with a level of customer service experience to join a dynamic and exciting company we are recruiting on behalf of.

The primary responsibilities of the role are to install broadband and TV services, resolve broadband faults, and optimise speed in customer's premises on behalf of clients.

You will be given full and ongoing training in the role, and also be fully supported throughout your working day by the company Service Centre.

Key Points

- You will be working 5 days per week (Monday to Saturday) with a rotational day per week off and every Sunday off.

- The early slot is 0700 – 0900 and late slot is 1800 – 2000. The aim is that you will be allocated jobs over an average of 9.5 hours within this timeframe. This will however depend on business needs.

- For the first week in the field on your own you will be given a reduced number of jobs per day and then rising steadily to a full day.

- You will be paid 2 weeks in arrears. You will not need to supply us with an invoice as we have a team who do this for you.

Training

- You will be given 12 days classroom training, broken by experience in the field where you will shadow one of our experienced engineers. Your class room training will be concluded with between 1 – 5 days in the field training (depending on individual need) with an experienced Engineer in your area before you go out on your own.

- All training, travel and accommodation expenses will be paid for. (Please note that expenses will only be granted if you are located more than 35 miles away from the training centre.)

- As we are investing in our new Engineers, and providing you with an additional skill set, we would like to ensure that you see the value in this training, and as a result a retainer cost of training is in place for all new starts. If you leave before 3 months of beginning employment, you will be eligible to repay the cost of training which is £1,000. If you leave between 3-6 months of beginning employment, you will be charged £666. If you leave between 6-9 months of beginning employment, you will be charged £333. Any period after 9 months, you will not be charged. Of course, if for whatever reason, the contract was to be terminated, you would not be eligible to repay the cost of training, regardless of the timeframe.

Pay and Vehicle/ Tools

- You will be paid £48.18 per day for the first 2 weeks of training.

- For the remaining week of training and your first 25 weeks in the field, your daily rate will be £116.85.

- After the completion of your probationary service, of six months, your daily rate will increase to £129.15.

- £24 (inc VAT) of your daily rate will be deducted and in return you will be provided with a van, all tools, uniform, iPad, insurance cover and software licences.

- You are able to claim mileage of 16p per mile after you have exceeded 75 miles in any one day.

- In the event that the vehicle is damaged and you are at fault there is a £1000 insurance excess. You would not be expected to pay all of this in one go, so for example, if you were in an accident, the vehicle was damaged, you were at fault and the damage was £700, It would be arranged for a weekly amount to be deducted from your pay to pay this off.
