Our client is a luxury goods retailer, with sites nationally but the head office specifically in London. Our client is recognised as the UK's premier luxury fashion retailer, and is internationally renowned for its expertly edited fashion and beauty merchandise, premium food and wine offer and award-winning restaurants.

THE ROLE

  • The role is centred around a Magento Enterprise implementation and Node.js presentation platform by working collaboratively with the rest of the Multichannel and Core Systems teams. Innovation is essential, as making key recommendations, and implementing best practise design patterns are a part of the role. Good working practises, standards, agile methodologies and a digital mind-set is key.
  • Assist the business in its development of the Magento Enterprise solution, Node.js presentation platform and any other web applications.
  • Work with the project management team daily to support current and future developments, ensuring that any new features are delivered within timescales and on budget.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in web technologies and continuously evaluate a road map to ensure the business stays current.
  • Influence the business digital framework by instilling best working practises, such as coding standards, design patterns, code reviews, documentation, testing and agile methodologies.
  • Translating user requirements into functional design specifications and working with-in the scrum team to estimate accurate time scales during sprint planning.
  • Have a good understanding and can liaise and advise on systems integration with the Core Systems development team.
  • Work closely with QA to ensure a solid testing environment is adhered to, including CI, DVCS and release management.
  • Providing training to users of any new or existing systems and working with them to ensure they fully utilise the functionality available to them.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Git version control ?- Working experience using git and Github
  • Experience working on an ecommerce application (or other dynamic/transactional applications)
  • OOP PHP - Substantial experience developing in PHP applications using object oriented programming principles. We have Laravell and Cake applications as well as Magento.
  • Magento Developer - Deep understanding in the core Magento platform with the ability to advise in all areas comfortably.
  • LAMP Stack - An understanding of the LAMP stack with an ability to debug issues on a production environment.
  • JavaScript - Very comfortable working with client side and server side JavaScript. Ability to code in vanilla js and rely on frameworks when needed. Knowledge of React, Redux, Express, Backbone, jQuery and prototype; sound experience in those frameworks is preferable.
  • HTML/CSS - Comfortable creating templates and making minor styling amends.
  • SQL - Complete confidence creating, querying and updating relational databases.
  • XML - Experience of creating, using and manipulating XML.
  • JSON - Experience using and interacting with JSON Objects.
  • Experience with AWS (desirable)
