Role Purpose:

Responsible for developing, implementing and improving effective sourcing strategy, key supplier selection and contract negotiations related to agreed category areas. Delivers value for money and innovation in accordance with the agreed procurement and business strategy and plans.

Supports daily business driven operations through the MD's, Regional Directors, Regional Managers and key Support Services stakeholder, including Customer Services and Major Works. Works with the business to identify and improve ways of working in matters related to the category and procurement and supply chain.

Accountable for providing a 'FirstPort Fit' supply chain across agreed category. This includes UK wide geographical coverage (England, Wales and Scotland); all trades; and in/out of business hours. Compliant with standards expected of FirstPort brands, our Clients and Customers.

Responsible for key strategic supplier selection and contract negotiations relating to a defined category area.

Acts as a role model of professional procurement practice, delivering pragmatic and high quality solutions to meet the needs of the organisation, delivering value and having significant coverage and commercial influence over FirstPort's third party expenditure.

Plans and carries out activities that drive Procurement & Supply Chain's towards FirstPort's goal of becoming the UK's leading residential property manager 'as measured by others'.

What your principal responsibilities and accountabilities are:

Company-wide Responsibilities

Understands FirstPort's business strategy and how it impacts P&SC. Ensures category management activities underpin the business strategy.

Represents Procurement on Executive Boards or forums as directed by Head of Procurement and Supply Chain; and delivers key reports and presentations as required.

Ensures that the role & activities of the Category Management team are clearly understood by P&SC team, Internal & External Stakeholders at all times.

Meets with key customers to ensure that the business strategy and functional business needs are being met effectively by the category management activity.

Actively supports the procurement transformation throughout FirstPort by influencing senior management within FirstPort; expanding the footprint of procurement into new areas of FirstPort; and working with stakeholders and responding to any issues or suggestions relating to their Category in a timely manner.

Champions the implementation of category management within own team and wider FirstPort community resulting in cost and value improvement.

Leads and coaches others in the areas of category management, supplier relationship management and procurement policy.

Act as Category subject matter expert within FirstPort and externally as appropriate.

Develop and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand and deliver the business' needs and maintains relevant stakeholder maps.

Communicates the value of the Procurement & Supply Chain function to the business.

Procurement Responsibilities

Plans and carries out activities that drive Procurement & Supply Chain's towards FirstPort's goal of becoming the UK's leading residential property manager 'as measured by others'.

Delivers an effective category management model and methodology and works collaboratively with the business to maximise leverage and best practice procurement.

Develops and delivers financial and other performance targets.

Develops and maintains a centre of excellence for Managing Directors, Regional Directors/Managers and their teams providing strategic direction and management information for agreed categories.

Works with the business to identify, implements and maintain a Preferred Supplier and Approved Product/Service Lists as appropriate for agreed categories and drives supplier and product/service optimisation.

Works with business stakeholders to facilitate innovation and value improvement from suppliers.

Leads and facilitates regular and appropriate supplier and/or cross-functional workshops/reviews within P&SC and the business providing guidance and direction on the category management process and its implementation; and implement innovative, value adding ideas and proposals from suppliers.

Ensures that all contracts for strategic, critical and preferred suppliers within a category strategy are in place, have commercial rigour, mitigate risk, incorporate KPI's, SLA's, continuous improvement targets and are executed in accordance with procurement policy, compliance, service level and professional standards expectations.

Approves all contracts for critical, strategic and preferred suppliers that underpin a category strategy.

Has direct responsibility for category of expenditure and key supplier relationships; supports their team members in managing supplier relationships and performance. Delivers improved efficiency and value added capability through cultivating an environment of ideas generation and innovation from the incumbent supply base.

Conducts supplier segmentation (Critical, Strategic, Preferred, Approved, Operational) and develops, maintains and communicates a preferred supplier and approved product/service list for their agreed categories.

Ensures the category team develop and maintain rigorous and detailed knowledge of suppliers, markets and commercial issues relating to agreed categories.

Develops senior stakeholder relationships and ensures all team members maintain appropriate stakeholder maps.

Develops and manages appropriate stakeholder forums.

Develops and embeds procurement policy, processes and procedures in support of Head of Procurement and Supply Chain.

Ensures risk register for category is in place, maintained and managed. Ensures the appropriate supply risk monitoring and audit activities are routinely conducted.

Designs and implements category strategies that deliver financial and other performance targets such as service, quality, supply chain and risk management.

Working collaboratively with the business, undertakes rigorous business requirements analysis and aligns category strategies to FirstPort's business objectives.
