By developing innovative products, building relationships with our customers and enabling great careers; we are focused on building lifetime loyalty between Fourth, our customers and each other. The vast majority of us have worked within the industry; we believe we need to be passionate about and have experienced the industry in order to help our customers grow their businesses successfully.

Working at Fourth provides an opportunity to build a successful career where our people develop and grow in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

The Role

Enjoy an environment where UX is respected by everyone

Management, development and sales teams alike see UX as critical to the success of our products and improving the lives of our users. We genuinely care about designing and building a great user experience.

Be part of a UX community

Our UX/Design team cover a range of skills including visual design, interaction design, and user research. We respect each other’s skillsets and strengths, and collaborate as a team to solve really tricky usability challenges.

Work in a team that understands UX isn’t just pretty pictures

We need your interaction design, usability and analytical skills to help us develop a deep understanding of our users’ goals, needs, and problems (and then help address them). If you have great visual design abilities, we’ll gladly use those too!

Help users understand and solve challenging technical problems with ease

We present complex technical information and processes in simple, readable, and enjoyable ways. It’s quite a challenge but our users really appreciate the results. Researching and creating personas for use in stress-testing user stories is key to achieving this.

Develop tools for developers, with developers

Work collaboratively with developers and product managers/owners to define the user experience. Take a lead in identifying key user needs, rapid prototyping new features, running usability tests, and iterating designs based on feedback from the rest of the team and from real users.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will be an obsessive doodler and note-taker as well as outgoing, energetic, confident and good at communicating with people.

·You can articulate to stakeholders how and why design is about meeting user needs, not just aesthetics

·You’re willing and able to work on both web based desktop and mobile products. You use the right platform for the context and goals of the user

·Your technical analytical skills mean you can objectively challenge problems and devise simple design solutions

·You’re just as happy facilitating collaborative design sessions and workshops as you are leading user research and testing

·You collaborate well with developers, product managers/owners and testers in small project teams where you’ll be advocating the user’s perspective

·You have an excellent knowledge of user-centred design methods

·You’re pragmatic when it comes to design solutions. You know when to balance what’s great with what’s necessary and when to champion for better

·Your clear and concise communication skills mean you’re able to build consensus for design solutions by explaining both what and why

·Experience using an agile approach to software development

What would really help?
These things are “nice-to-haves”. If you don’t have them but still think you would fit in well at Fourth, don’t be put off applying (we know how rare good UX people are)!

·A firm grasp of HTML and CSS

·Experience with a JavaScript framework

·Experience with print design

What you’ll get from us

You will immediately have the opportunity to put your stamp on our collection of cutting edge mobile and UI market leading products within a global business. You will also engage with our clients around the world to help produce excellent user experiences. We don't think there are many similar opportunities to do this around right now. Agile is embedded across all product and tech teams at Fourth. It is fundamental to our way of working, and well developed. This is a very real opportunity to put your UX skills to use in a large, truly Agile environment.

Fourth are the market leader in back office software for the hospitality industry and have ambitious world-wise growth plans, all of which require the involvement from Design and User Experience specialists
