We are seeking an experienced Nursery Manager with a solid work history and consistency and the ability to turn a nursery around.

The company has a network of nurseries and their vision is to develop an exceptional Early Years environment and brand to meet a range of parent and child needs. They have an ambitious growth strategy, predominantly through acquisitions of nurseries in the UK.

Main Duties and responsibilities

Early Years: To lead and manage high quality practice in the nursery working with the Director of Early Years;

Commercial: To deliver the operating revenue and cost budget of the nursery on monthly, quarterly and annual basis, working with the Commercial team

Operational: to manage the day to day operations of the nursery, including outstanding service delivery towards children, staff, parents and other stakeholders

Early Years Provision • Drive and deliver the highest standards of care throughout the nursery as detailed in the EYFS, company EY audit and OFSTED inspection schedule

Implement safe recruitment procedures to ensure the ongoing safety of children in the nursery. This applies to both permanent and agency staff and includes full DBS checks;

Embed staff commitment to the core values and guiding principles;

To facilitate and contribute to effective interface between Local Authorities, Ofsted and other relevant partners to deliver child centred, compliant provision;

Manage effective key person systems to promote children’s emotional well being and develop secure attachments

Accountable for high quality child development records for all children;

Act as a positive role model to develop positive relationships between staff, parents/carers

Ensure that legal requirements as set out in EYFS are met at all times and recommendations/actions from inspections are implemented successfully;

Accountable for the team in the planning and development of inspiring and creative environments for children and babies;

Plan, attend and lead informative parents evenings, staff meetings, fund raising events and multi-disciplinary meetings as necessary;

Monitor all aspects of provision to ensure policies and procedures are implemented effectively at all times

Ensure children are provided with an environment that encourages them to value and respect different cultures, religion, language and disability;

Lead the team in ensuring Safeguarding Children procedures are followed and you know what to do in the event of an allegation being made;

Deliver care that reflects Equal Opportunities for all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disability and respects diversity;

Action and monitor all child protection issues, parent issues, complaints and accidents to ensure that remedial action is taken immediately, liaising with the Director of Early Years as appropriate · Nursery Operations and Finance

The Nursery manager is accountable for the financial performance of the nursery, involving all aspects of managing the budget. This includes meeting revenue targets through proactive management of occupancy and fee rates, working with the Commercial team.

Work with the Commercial team to proactively market the nursery, ensuring positive show rounds for parents, which are followed up to secure successful conversion to bookings

Collect fees and monitor debts in accordance with the debt procedure

Monitor the budget and expenditure in the nursery and ensure that agreed budgets are not exceeded.

Ensure correct approvals in place for any spend outside daily operations in line with delegated authorities

Manage the nursery KPIs to ensure all targets are met and reports delivered on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis on nursery performance

Ensure all nursery policies and procedures are implemented effectively;

As a member of the management team, ensure that the company’s procedures and staff handbook manuals are issued to the team and understood;

Manage and ensure highest quality standards for Health, Safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery including management of cleaners, security company, utilities and handymen to keep the nursery in good repair

Be responsible for the effective implementation of all emergency and security procedures, e.g. fire procedures, routines for dropping of and collecting children and daily register of attendance

Maintain accident records in accordance with company policy and legislation - ensure all relevant reports are reported to Director of Early Years, RIDDOR and OFSTED where appropriate

Undertake and maintain records of regular risk and COSHH assessments

Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by your line manager Line Management

Provide line management, induction, appraisal and supervision, to ensure professional support and direction, to a team of Early Years practitioners in the nursery;

Ensure that agreed professional records of contact with practitioners, families and children are maintained;

Manage and lead systems to monitor provision and report on quality of practice;

Manage and evaluate data from systems to monitor children ‘s progress;

Maintain accurate staff personnel files, ensuring all suitability checks and paperwork are in place;

In consultation with the Director of Early Years and HR Department deal with staff issues such as grievances, investigations, disciplinary matters, absence management, flexible working requests in accordance with the companies policies and procedures;

Manage staff annual leave requests to ensure the nursery is adequately staffed at all times;

Ensure all staff rotas are accurate, including reporting of absence through sickness and holidays

Develop and manage training and development plans for all nursery staff to secure ongoing professional development and highest quality practice;

Deliver and monitor the impact of training to staff as agreed with Director of Early Years, through team meetings, formal training sessions, elbow coaching etc Professional and Personal Development

Ensure high standards of professional expertise through continuing professional development;

Update knowledge of legislation as changes occur and disseminate as appropriate to benefit the nursery and the organisation; Safeguarding: This is everyone's responsibility and all employees are required to act in such a way that at all times safeguards the health, safety and well-being of the children in the nurseries. Familiarisation with, and adherence our Safeguarding and Health & Safety Policies and any associated guidance is an essential requirement of all employees as is participation in related mandatory/statutory training. It is the obligation of each employee to seek guidance, without delay, where specific requirements, terminology and/or clarification is required. All managers have a responsibility to ensure their team members understand their individual responsibilities in regard to health, safety and Safeguarding.

Minimum NVQ Level 3 in childcare, University Degree desirable
