This global constituent of the FTSE 100 list is seeing major growth across all its global markets and is looking to bolster the Procurement organization in North America by hiring a skilled Category Manager into their Indirect Procurement team in Houston, TX.

As a Category Manager you will be joining a world-class procurement organization within a business that has established itself as a household name in North America. The Category Manager for Technical Labour Services will primarily cover the Contingent Labour Category with a focus on technical, 'blue-collar', professionals such as engineering, technicians, etc. and take full ownership of those categories with the aim of implementing best-in-class Category Management Strategies to ensure maximum value is achieved. The Category Manager will act as a business partner between procurement and business stakeholders and a subject matter expert in indirect procurement.

As the Procurement Category Manager for Technical Labour Services you will hold the following responsibilities:-

  • Providing full end-to-end category management and in-depth knowledge of the Contingent Labour categories, ideally with a strong knowledge of the Technical Labour Services sub-category
  • Leading complex regional and global negotiations to generate maximum value for money
  • Develop and implement a Supplier Management approach to monitor performance, analyse value and manage continuous improvement and compliance
  • Act as a business partner and subject matter expert of procurement to key stakeholders in the business
  • Day to day management of one Procurement Specialist in your team

The following skills are required for the Procurement Category Manager:-

  • An excellent knowledge of Category Management Principles and ability to develop and implement Category Management strategies
  • An in-depth understanding of the Contingent Labour, Professional Services and Technical Services
  • Experience in managing highly complex, cross-functional categories within a global matrix organization
  • Experience in managing stakeholders up to senior executive level with excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Highly analytical mind-set with the ability to identify and take advantage of commercial opportunities
  • Must be educated to BSc level with any additional Procurement qualification highly advantageous
