An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our client Unilever are currently looking for a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer based at Unilever's prestigious factory in Warrington. This is a full time temporary role starting ASAP, running until Dec 2017, working a 3 shift pattern (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm & 10pm-6am ) Need to be flexible to cover holidays as and when is necessary. 37.5 hours per week. It is paying £43352 per annum, pro rata.


The multi skilled technician is an Equipment breakdown, Preventative Maintenance and Focused Improvement specialist engaged to optimise the running and maintenance of equipment within the factory. The role will revolve around a shift/ days pattern. Where breakdowns occur the multi-skilled technician will act to diagnose and troubleshoot faults and where necessary will recommend design improvements. She/he is also intimately involved with setting the Maintenance Strategy for the respective production area.
The Technician is professionally competent and qualified to operate safely at a post apprentice level in all three of the principal engineering disciplines; mechanical, electrical, Instrumentation and Control. She/he must be a mentally agile and advanced problem solver actively engaged in maintaining a safe work environment, which protects product quality and reduces waste and other environmental impact. A positive contributor to the factory's work environment and culture, the technician will act as a leading coach and mentor to the Technical Operator around the areas of mechanical engineering and World Class Maintenance techniques.


oMechanical Skills and Focused Technician; knowledge and application of technical skills and expertise to ensure the provision of effective engineering support within team, focused on delivering performance targets. Directly contributes to improved safety, quality, sustainability and cost.
oPreventative Maintenance Specialist and user of Condition Based Monitoring.
oFully Operational on Mechanisms, Motion.
oElectrical Skills and Diagnostic Technician; Remove and replace major electrical components (such as motors, switch/control gear) and troubleshoot electrical circuits safely. Able to isolate machinery and re-install electrical supplies for machinery components.
oEstablish power distribution systems and electrical control circuits.
oInstall electrical drive systems and Control Loops.
oInstrumentation and Control Skills:
oDemonstrate an understanding of the Internal Architecture of Programme Logic Control (PLC) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS); their Applications and Knowledge of the Number Systems they use.
oAmend control and software documentation. Manage PLC and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Networks (eg the critical inter-relation between WCM and TPM.
oProblem Solving - Has the ability to identify, prioritise and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence.
oDecision Making - Makes and implements technical decisions which can impact the plan for the week.
oProject Management - Achieve the desired outcomes of the project in line with agreed plans using appropriate project management tools and techniques to ensure the efficient use of Programme modifications, Force Devices and fault finding).
oSafety - Utilise all appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment to ensure a safe working environment for the whole team.
oWork Place Hazards - Full knowledge of the workplace and hazards within it. Utilise appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the task.
oEnvironment - Reduce costs due to waste and minimise impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials.
oQuality - Ensure that all aspects of Quality within the area of responsibility are in accordance with local Quality procedures to protect and promote the brand and product.
oLeadership - Promote the development of a highly effective team through strong communication, leading by example whilst keeping focused on goals and targets. Great teams and great leaders will achieve superior performance.
oContinuous Improvement - Use performance measures to identify and prioritise losses in production area. Apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero loss concept to eliminate losses.
oWCM - Knowledge and understanding of the key principles of WCM and the impact this has on the Key Performance Indicators in the production area (PQSCDMI); must understand technical, financial and human resources.

oPost Apprenticeship Skill level in the 3 relevant engineering disciplines (as graded by national standards) :
oInstrumentation and Control
oRequires national School leaver qualifications in
oReading and Comprehension.

Required to support report writing, data analysis, problem solving, mechanical calculations, leadership and coaching skills


*Experience of working as part of an extended team within the manufacturing sector.
*Strong coaching and communication skills.
*Proven analytical skills.
*Programme Logic Control qualifications.
?Experience of manufacturing in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods Company and World Class Manufacturing.
Experience as a team member within a project Management team with an awareness of project management tools and techniques.
