Learning Support Assistant - Various hours available - Term Tim Only Contract - Fixed Term - £ 4,835 - 13,253 pa Are you confident at communicating with a variety of young people and adults who have a range of additional support needs? Do you have a basic understanding of additional learning needs and disabilities? If so, Bournemouth and Poole College would like you to join their Learning Support Department. As a Learning Support Assistant you will be working in conjunction with teaching staff to provide support for students on an individual or small group basis. You will ensure that students with a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities are provided with a positive and supported learning experience. Ultimately you will be fundamental in enabling students on their learning programmes to complete their course of study successfully. The Role As part of the Learning Support Services Department we have the overall task of managing and providing additional learning and personal support; to enable students who have a wide range of additional learning needs to achieve their full potential in their chosen course of study. Our aim is to ensure that students' support needs are identified and additional learning support measures are put in place. We are continuing to develop a range of strategies to support students and give considerable emphasis to providing individual support to each person in context. Key responsibilities, skills and attitudes * Work in partnership with teaching staff to continually review and assess the needs and progress of the student assigned to support. * Provide a high quality support service to students. * Act as a note taker and assist students in their note taking skills using supportive strategies. * Encourage and support students to develop their skills in working independently * Able to work on own initiative, making informed decisions where appropriate. * Ability to carry out personal care with sensitivity to the student's needs. * Helpful and caring personality.
