CRYOGENICS / MAGNET SERVICE AND INSTALLATION ENGINEER Job Purpose To be responsible for servicing superconducting magnets at customer sites (worldwide). Principal Accountability To perform safety inspections of major components and to verify the integrity of the system. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities To top up cryogenic liquid and perform planned maintenance To perform vacuum leak testing and calibrations, set up equipment, and cool the magnet to operating temperature Energizing and shimming the magnet Completing all QA documentation, conducting site risk assessments and reviewing customer acceptance criteria Liaising with the customers' site service engineers After training, commission the magnets at customer sites; including overseeing the delivery of the magnet to site, locating the magnet in the correct position, cabling, pumping, cool-down, energizing and shimming, and final checks Domestic and international travel, trips could be up to 3 weeks' duration Whilst working at the site you will be operating as part of the production team and could be asked to work in other areas of the factory as required Person specification An HND in electronics / physics / engineering and at least two years' practical service or installation experience Experience with cryo-coolers, cryogens, high vacuum, compressed gas and helium leak testing is an advantage, but full training will be provided for suitable candidates Ability to work for extended periods with minimal supervision Proficient in the use of power and hand tools Proficient in the reading and understanding of technical prints and drawings Proficient in documenting assembly processes Ability to discuss technical issues at all levels Ability to work in high magnetic fields Ability to be involved in light rigging operations
