Technical Proposals Engineer

PROFILE

My client is an engineering organisation involved in the automated manufacturing of large scale mechanical assemblies.

Job Purpose

The Proposals Engineer will be responsible for the producing proposals, tenders, quotations and bids for automated assembly projects within the automotive industry. This will also be a customer facing role as you will be required to meet with clients in order to discuss project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

+ Provide sales support to the Site Teams based around the UK

+ Meet the customer face to face or by phone to clarify the RFQ content

+ Concept and develop robust solutions in response to RFQs

+ Engage engineering departments for technical assistance when necessary

+ Issue of RFQ’s to specialist equipment or service suppliers and subsequent quotation analysis

+ Prepare a technical response to RFQs

+ Produce detailed cost estimates in accordance with the company procedures

+ Create project execution timing plans and where required, cycle time diagrams using MS Excel or Project

+ Compile all necessary documentation and submit the response to the RFQ

+ Manage time efficiently to ensure RFQ requests are submitted by the bid due date

+ Engage with the customer during the bid evaluation process and present our proposal to the customer as required

+ Liaise with our automotive division in Germany and other international locations when required

Requirements

+ The ability to use existing engineering knowledge and experience to concept engineering solutions for machine or system modifications

+ Full driving licence and flexibility to travel and spend nights away from home as required.

+ Regular visits to customer sites and occasionally internationally

+ Proficient MS Office skills and the ability to use, MS Project and MS PowerPoint would be an advantage

+ Preferably degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering etc.)

+ Familiarisation in project management methodology and project planning tools and techniques would be an advantage

+ Previous proposals experience, is preferable but not mandatory

+ SAP experience would be useful

+ A high level of interpersonal, written and oral communications skills

+ Analytical and conceptual capabilities
