Our client, a major manufacturer based in Peterlee with a globally recognised brand, has just made available a permanent opportunity for an Electrical Systems & Installation Senior Design Engineer to join their team, offering a salary of up to £53,979 per annum (depending on experience) plus excellent benefits. As an Electrical Systems & Installation Senior Design Engineer you will direct and contribute to concept, development, design and integration of vehicle electrical components, subsystems, or processes. Within Global teams, provide technical guidance, contribute to the planning and delivery of projects. Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Systems & Installation Senior Design Engineer - Research, develop, and design machine concepts and layouts for Integration of electrical systems, components, harness design and routing. - Lead projects, meet key dates in partnership with Engineering, multi-functional teams, global business partners and Suppliers to develop test and development schedules, Design For Manufacture reviews. - Continuously improve the product and department. Problem solve issues in current production and new programs. - Utilise and advance technical expertise, product knowledge, and supplier development to deliver programs using principles of APQP. - Manage: team, priorities, key Gateways, design system tools, drawing release and Bill of Material. - Develop and lead innovation, efficiency improvement, drive weight and cost reduction to add Qualifications and Experience required for the Electrical Systems & Installation Senior Design Engineer Required: - A Degree or HND/HNC within an Electrical Engineering discipline or relevant equivalent job relevant experience. - Experience of designing (3D CAD) and integrating electrical components and systems (preferably mobile arrangements). - A history of producing and maintaining component, system schematic drawings and models, Bill of Materials and technical specifications. - Experience of a full range of manufacturing methodologies and project management, ability to present design status to all business levels. - Experience of working in and with multi-functional teams in: development, process and validation techniques, including suppliers; customers, global component and system development teams. - Utilised design aspects of APQP to manage risk and meet: challenging cost, weight and delivery timelines whilst maintaining reliability and durability. - Continuously improved, innovated and advanced product, team and department. Problem solve issues in current production and new programs. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. - Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to lead teams. Desired: - An understanding of the fundamentals of Vehicle electrical systems, harnesses, components, and an understanding of the principles of electronics and programming/software. - Use 3D CAD modelling and 2D drawing systems, electrical: circuit and schematic diagrams and presenting to multi-functional teams. - Use of Engineering Principals such as Mechanical & Structural constraints, Geometric Tolerance and Material / component selection. - Project management and APQP experience (specifically in FMEA and supplier collaboration).
