As Lead Software Engineer you will be located within one or more multi-functional teams and will carry out a wide variety of activities, from assisting the team to write code, breaking down complex technical problems and identifying steps towards solutions to coaching team members and engaging with non-technical stakeholders. You will take decisions about low and high level software design options and development tools, within the relevant strategic framework. You will be pioneers for innovation and look to gain endorsement to introduce new technologies where this best meet the needs of the business. This role balances a hands-on approach with a strategic outlook, working with other senior leads to ensure that the developed solutions meet the present and future requirements of HMLR and support end to end business needs.

They are looking for an effective, self-motivated individual with a strong track record of building and running high volume, reliable and flexible services that are user focussed and continually improved through iterative development. You will have comprehensive and recent experience of designing and implementing and coding complex software systems (e.g. an active software developer currently engaged in architecting and building high volume digital services). In addition you will have knowledge of agile product management in particular determination of vision, objectives, goals and success criteria gained through practical experience.
