Prime Responsibility Responsible for the planning, creation and execution of comprehensive tests designed to maintain the highest level of quality in our software. Ensuring that they are fit for purpose and that they perform in accordance with the design specification. Identifying and capturing product issues before release to the wider business and customers. - Follow documented processes and procedures to build, execute and maintain reliable and detailed Test Suites. Whilst identifying, proposing and implementing improvements for efficiency and quality. - On a rotation basis, act as Lead Analyst on projects as assigned by the Release Manager. Responsible for seeking sign off at appropriate stages of the test lifecycle and to act as a point of contact for the Release Manager and wider team on all matters relating to that project. - Provision of detailed and accurate test data and metrics as required by the Release Manager and other stakeholders within the business. Essential Functions - Create detailed Tests that describe the scope, activities and schedule of testing, from which a thorough set of Test Cases can be created. - Design and maintain Test Cases in accordance with the agreed Test Plan which verify that the software or product being tested appropriately meets all explicit and implicit product requirements and user stories. - Execution of tests, reacting to failures in accordance with documented processes and procedures - Generation of detailed Test Reports upon completion of testing for stakeholders within the business. - Creation and maintenance of automated tests that improve efficiency of the testing cycle without sacrificing quality. - Build and nurture excellent working relationships with colleagues. - Provide training and support as appropriate to other members of the Quality Control team in order to grow the department's collective knowledge and build upon our internal development and support philosophy. - Complete projects and tasks as assigned by the Release Manager Critical Success Factors - Delivery of a quality control process that exceeds expected defect detection levels at the earliest possible stages of the testing life cycle. Remaining conscious of the business strategy to release more products and features more frequently. - Continuous maintenance and development of a bank of automated test cases, able to be run as part of a Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery plan - Develops and maintains an excellent working knowledge of the entire range of products in order to support the testing function. - Develops and maintains technical skills required to effectively test and ensure quality of software or products. Education, Experience & Skills This is a technical role that demands a methodical approach alongside technical ability and the aptitude to grasp and master software products quickly and effectively. Quality Control Analysts would benefit from experience in a software testing, or development role, ideally with working experience of the software testing life cycle and C# development. The requirements of the role are: - Excellent communication and diplomacy skills - Excellent time management and prioritisation skills - Effective planning and investigative technique - Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills - Good knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio and C# - Broad understanding of HR processes and current day issues - Patience, curiosity and creativity - Self-motivated - Good team player - Well-mannered and a good communicator - Is a self-starter with a positive attitude and takes ownership of own development and progression
