Systems Engineer - Engines Location: Derby Do you want to work for an engines company who pride themselves on looking after their staff and ensure you are kept challenged through being a systems owner? This is an opportunity for a proven Design Engineer/Component Engineer to join a growing arm of a much larger manufacturing company who have seen an increase in demand for their award winning range of diesel engines. Due to pressure from the global market place and the never-ending pressure from government legislation there is now even tougher demands for low emissions, excellent fuel consumption and outstanding durability. As a result of this they have had to increase supply through a number of exciting engine development programmes, and with that are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in engine system design and application. Ideally, you will currently be working within a small OEM or a Tier 1 Supplier on engines of all sizes, either in the automotive, aerospace, off-highway, nuclear or truck markets. Currently you are expected to create designs, liaise with internal/external stakeholders, project manage tests and create a fully manufacturable product. You may have an MSc or PhD too! Qualifications: + Ideally qualified to degree level in an engineering topic. Knowledge/Skills: + Definition, specification and validation of detailed engine systems for diesel applications. + System and component level design to achieve cost, performance and durability targets + The ability to liaise with people at all levels including negotiations with suppliers. + The ability to specify tests on rig, dynamometer and machine trials. + Demonstrable knowledge of diesel engine technology.
