Goldman and Fine Are looking for an Experienced ACCA Qualified Accountant for an Urgent Role! The Company An opportunity has arisen to work for a long established, accountancy firm based in North London. Our Client provides accountancy services to a number of small and medium sized businesses. Due to rapid growth and expansion plans, together with reorganisation requirements, our Client is now seeking to recruit a professional and enthusiastic ACCA/ACA qualified individual with strong 'practice' experience. The successful candidate will have clear paths for career progression and will be expected to want such progression. The Role In this full-time position, you will be responsible for managing key Client portfolios as well as building and maintaining good working relationships with all colleagues and Clients. This person will ensure that all work allocated is carried out profitably and on a timely basis in accordance with the firm's professional standards and to the satisfaction of Client's, Senior Managers and Partners. The need to produce accounts, review VAT quarters, assist in audit work, produce statutory accounts, understand company secretarial and be up-to-date technically with all accounting matter and compliance is essential. Whilst adhering to strict deadlines, the Candidate must maintain a portfolio of Clients and ensure all records are collated and processed correctly, in an appropriate manner. Liaising with an overseas processing office, ensuring that the processing and uploading of records (obtaining missing information from Clients), will also feature. You will be responsible for preparing accounts up to Trial Balance, including accruals and prepayments. You must have a good understanding of double entry, be able to reconcile all Balance Sheet Control Accounts. An understanding of Payroll and ability to reconcile the wages account and PAYE control accounts, VAT control accounts is a must. The successful candidate must also be able to prepare a set of working papers for the Partners to review including commentary and notes. In addition, an understanding of Corporation Tax and the ability to draft a Corporation Tax computation with the understanding of Capital Allowances is vital to the role. Additional duties will include working with the other Senior Accountants and Audit Partners, assisting in the production and presentation of new proposals. The Candidate The successful candidate should be ACCA or ACA qualified and must have a minimum of 3 years Practice experience. The candidate should have excellent organisational skills along with clear communication and interpersonal skills. 'Client facing' experience is most advantageous. Fluency in both written and verbal English is a must, together with IT literacy. A good working knowledge of IRIS, VT+ and Sage is beneficial. Very strong double entry skills are paramount. The candidate must also be a confident individual who can work well under pressure and well within a team. Our Client operates in a fast moving environment with a lot of deadlines, so the person needs to be organised, diligent and have attention to detail - you must be able to stick to stringent deadlines! The candidate will need to assist with the fieldwork and potentially manage audit staff. They will need to create the schedules and support workings for a personal tax return of a Sole Trader or Partnership. Technical knowledge is imperative. You must possess the ability to review VAT returns prepared and you must have the required technical knowledge both in accounts preparation and also VAT. The job requires the candidate to work with their own initiative and also work closely and report directly to Senior Managers/Partners when required. You must be able to take your own initiative and not expect to be 'spoon-fed'. You must carry a professional approach at all times, work proactively and work to tight deadlines. The role pays a basic salary of between £30,000 / £36,000 based on experience. Note: For exceptional candidates there may also be the opportunity to be invited for a Salary Partnership. Partnership or Equity Stakes would only be discussed with 'partnership material' candidates. Key Responsibilities - To be able to communicate effectively with junior and semi-senior staff members, to the level that the overall tasks are delivered in an efficient and timely manner - Remains updated to Clients' businesses and needs and is the key contact for day-to-day queries and is able to advise Clients on relevant accounting procedures - Managing key Client portfolios as well as building and maintaining good working relationships with all colleagues and Clients - Expected to be able to take assignments from initial planning stage to final sign off - Working with the other senior Accountants and Audit Partner's assisting in the production and presentation of new proposals - There is the ultimate expectation that the candidate must, given a box of records, be able to do the 'A to Z' required and produce a set of accounts or piece items already done by others, into a set of accounts Knowledge, Experience & Attributes - Minimum 3 years' experience in public practice - Must be Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA) - Must have strong experience with Advanced Excel (macros advantageous) - Demonstrate a good working knowledge of accounting compliance and regulation - Good communication and interpersonal skills (through email and over telephone) - Client front facing experience - Must pay attention to detail with a high level of accuracy - Must be highly organised and able to meet strict deadlines - A warm, energetic, enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude - Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, be resilient and calm under pressure - Confidential and professional at all times - Knowledge and experience of VT+ Bookkeeping and Sage Software - Strong experience in Microsoft Office Suites (PowerPoint occasional)
