CONTROLS ENGINEER / MECHATRONICS ENGINEER (Electrically bias)

Required - a time served, apprentice trained and high performing Control Engineer / Mechatronics Engineer (Electrically bias), to assist with the installation, commissioning and continuous development of control systems for a brand new manufacturing facility, incorporating the latest construction and environmental technologies…

THE ROLE:

Ultimately, this role will be reporting to the Senior Controls Engineer and will be responsible for resolving technical issues within the relevant production area.

Key duties:

  • Overseeing the installation of production lines and control equipment
  • Liaising with a range of external contractors installing machinery in the new facility
  • Working with Robots, PLCs, HMIs and Data recording systems and making changes within them
  • The continuous development and improvement of production control systems
  • Ensuring smooth flow of Automated production lines
  • Providing technical support and coaching to the maintenance team
  • Developing PPM and TPM schedules for production machinery

THE PERSON

As the ideal Controls Engineer / Mechatronics Engineer for this position you will be driven, self-motivated and confident in your capability to manage and develop all control systems within the facility, whilst also supporting and assisting all departments on these systems, and have:

  • Significant experience in a controls environment - essential
  • Experience working in robotics - essential (preferably ABB)
  • Knowledge of PLC programming - essential (preferably Siemens S7)
  • Qualification to HNC standard or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong coaching, facilitation and communication skills - essential
  • Experience working in automated product lines
  • Strong steady track record
  • Good all round interpersonal skills, a good team player
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Very proactive and control systems driven
  • Willingness to acquire new skills and ability to work on their own initiative
