The Role: Group IT Director Location: Flexible but Wolverhampton 2-3 days per week Package: to £100,000 with car, pension, health. Overview: This is a real chance to make a significant enhancement to a progressive, profitable and well established AIM listed multinational company. We are looking to make a director level appointment and the remit is to lead the IT / Technology function within the business and drive forward the technical structure and strategy across operations in UK, Europe and Middle East. Things are going well when it comes to the technology. The voice and data is solid (Cisco based), the cyber security is fine and a few upgrades are in the pipeline for the rest of the day to day operational technology but they have a couple of significant programmes of work that will need to be planned and delivered, with a likely 7 figure budget. Due to that, we are thinking that our new IT director is going to have a slightly varied background and the MD of the business is insisting on a few key points that must be part of the remit in order for this to gain the buy in from the group and PLC board. The company are ready to invest, and budget is there so long as the business case and justification supports it so on that basis, this is an interesting and intriguing challenge and the IT director is the last piece of the jigsaw in the eyes of the board to future proof all of the key business streams within the company. Future Programmes: A main focus for the business would be the enhancement of the international ERP system. The current system has been in place for over 25 years and is bespoke to the running of the business, and works well. However, risk is involved due to the lack of available support to the system should anything happen to key members of the IT team at the moment plus the base of the system is AS400 / RPG and as such, the plan will be there to enhance the existing system by way of a rewrite of the code or to simply replace and implement a more modern system which can do what the current system does, but add a number of additional features more fitting to an international business - and hopefully the new version of the system will be in place and working well for the next 20 years. The current system is deployed across the UK with variants of the system around Europe and UAE. A new system which is uniform across the business could no doubt bring efficiencies but a key part of the role for the next 2-3 years would be the assessment of existing setup, then the sourcing, implementation and change management needed to successfully integrate a new system around the business. Key Skills: In an ideal world, we would be looking for all four of these key skills, but for the right person, could progress with a minimum 3 from the 4. As an IT director, or similar senior level IT leader: * Experience of managing a technology function within a B2B hire and sale of asset business - likely either car hire or industrial plant & tool hire. * Experience of managing a technology function on an international basis. * Industrial distribution / Engineering or Industrial Logistics sector background * Programme management and delivery of multiple site technology systems within a live service environment Demonstrable evidence of 3 or ideally 4 of these skills would be essential, so please bear that in mind. Technical: Specific technology is not the key, but the environment is the normal Microsoft technology stack alongside Cisco voice and data. Support is via the internal IT department (Currently 7 FTE's with 350 users in the UK, 500 globally) and some 3rd party support. Cognos BI, Fortinet firewalls, SIP via Gamma, CRM is MS Dynamics. It would bonus if you had AS400 / iSeries environment experience. Personality: We would be looking for the IT director to devise and delivery a 5 year technology strategy plan. There is not anything significantly wrong with the existing technology but the right leader will be able to improve, modernise and implement a solution that will enhance both the internal and external customer experience. The ability to influence change - both up and down is going to be key for the role and as mentioned previously, the company are performing well, so offer both stability, growth and investment. The business: Established market leader with annual turnover for the UK in the region of £35-40m. Revenue and profits have increased YoY for the past 5 years. 60% of business is currently UK based with remainder in Europe and UAE. Circa 500 employees Worldwide. This is a board level position in the trading company but not the PLC group. Flexible approach to location with time likely split between the West Midlands, London and then across UK and International sites. Official base for the role will be West Midlands so ideally, you will be within commuting distance of the area (But not needed for 5 days a week). The package: Salary ceiling is likely around £95k plus a quality company vehicle. Pension, healthcare and other flexible benefits available. CRG TEC is an employment business acting on behalf of a client company.
