Thatcher Associates have been instructed to find a Design Engineer/Technical Manager based in the Gloucestershire area to work on schemes up to x60 units.

Client:
This is a great opportunity to work with a luxury house builder who excel in delivering a great company culture. You will be working within a team of Town Planners, Land Buyers, Technical Managers, Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors. Due to a strong pipeline, my client needs an individual with strong experience within housing infrastructure.

Description of the role and responsibilities:
As Design Engineer/Technical Manager you will be expected to manage sites from site identification through to completion whilst managing and monitoring site progress.

You will review civil and structural engineering designs to ensure compliance and be responsible for financial appraisals which will help inform the land buying team. It’s expected you will assess the design proposals in relation to minimising development costs whilst adding value. As Design Engineer/Technical Manager you will manage the consultants involved, liaising with architects and sub-contractors to coordinate technical information throughout the project team.

To summarise the infrastructure and engineering element:

- Report on the viability of developments which include utility searches and site investigations;
- Assess construction challenges and risks;
- Review all specialist reports and advise on Flood Risk Assessment, Highways and Ecology;
- Provide supporting documents for the planning application including utility statements;
- Advise on separate legal agreements to facilitate developments i.e Section 278 Agreement and sewer diversions;
- Submit or commission others to submit relevant applications under Building Regulations, NHBC and CfSH.

About you:
If you have experience as a Technical Manager/Engineering Manager/Design Engineer whilst working with a house builder or main contractor producing housing schemes then, this opportunity will suit your next career move. Ideally, my client is looking for someone with a very good civils background along with good knowledge of building regulations and sustainable homes legislation.

- 5+ years as either Technical Manager/Engineering Manager/Design Engineer
- Engineering degree
- Strong management and communication skills
- House builder/Developer background
- Good organisation skills with the ability to keep accurate records of detailed information
- Effective problem solving skills
- Achieve key deadlines
- Full UK driving licence.
