We have an exciting opportunity for anexperienced Painting and Decorating Vocational Instructor to train and instruct a diverse group of learners within the prison. As part of the team you will help to develop a strong Painting and Decorating programme that meets the needs of the learners and prison. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Painting and Decorating professional to deliver high learner success, through supportive, appropriate and effective relationship building and strong delivery within Painting and Decorating. You will be inducting learners onto the workshop/area of work and training them in aspects such as Health and Safety, Control of Substance Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Machinery and tools usage. This vacancy would suit a highly motivatedPainting and Decorating Instructor who can offer skills & knowledge to our learners. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and creative instructor, who can thrive upon working within a challenging yet rewarding environment. This role is based at HMP/YOI Winchester which was built in 1846 and is currently a Category B Local prison that serves the local courts, with a small 129 bed Category C Resettlement Unit. Winchester has an operational capacity of 690 and is able to take men from the age of 18 upwards. The regime run allows men to attend education, work and training and other interventions such as substance misuse groups and restorative justice programmes. Location: HMP/YOI Winchester Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year Salary: £18,015 - £32,578 per annum Closing date: 29 th September 2017 As a successful candidate you will: - Hold a relevant vocational qualification (Level 3 or above). - Hold relevant assessor/verifier awards. - Have vocational experience in relevant subject area and relevant up-to-date knowledge. - Have a proven track record of managing and supporting diverse groups of learners through nationally accredited programmes. - Have experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training (desirable). - Have the ability to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of a variety of learners and willing to explore new teaching and learning strategies. - Have good IT skills and willing to develop further. - Show accuracy and precision in written presentation.
