Deputy Head Teacher - Teaching and Learning
L21- 25
Required from January 2018

Phoenix is a multi-cultural 11-19 secondary school, serving 1600 (with a provision for 2008 places in September 2018) students in the north of West Bromwich close to the border with Walsall in the West Midlands. Opened in September 2010, as a result of the merger of two local schools, Phoenix has quickly established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area, an accolade achieved through commitment to continually improving the quality of teaching and learning and the provision of an exciting and dynamic learning experience for students.

An Ofsted visit in March 2015 recognised Phoenix as a 'Good' school, with a 'no limits' culture, driven by the uncompromising belief that all students will be successful as they move onto the next stage of their lives. Phoenix is a school that aspires to turn every child's dream into reality; believes that there is no limit to what can be achieved and succeeds through passion, commitment and determination.

Phoenix is one of only a few schools nationally to benefit from the government's priority schools building programme. In September 2017, the school moved into its brand new £30 million state-of-the art, purpose built building. The new building and its facilities will mean that Phoenix will become one of the most advanced schools not only in Sandwell, but the country.

Due to retirement of the current post holder, the school is seeking to appoint a dynamic, committed and forward thinking practitioner as Deputy Head Teacher. As a school constantly focussed on improvement, we are now seeking a colleague to join our team who has the drive, skills and attributes to ensure we become outstanding within the next two years.

As part of its move to 'Outstanding' the school is seeking to appoint an inspirational individual who will work with the leadership team to continue to drive improvement to further develop the school, staff, students and the wider school community. You will join the new Head Teacher to help lead a vibrant high performing school. You will be responsible for Teaching and Learning, implementing successful strategies across the whole school. You will be an excellent role model, demonstrating a high standard of teaching and promoting high expectations for all members of the school community.

If you would like to be part of a school that is committed to becoming the very best, share our vision and you have leadership skills to match, we would like to hear from you. If you are interested in the role and would like an informal discussion or would like an informal visit please contact Alison Clements at Hays Education on 0121 236 4476.
