We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, ambitious and driven Packaging & Ingredients Buyer to join our client's Purchasing team based in Manchester. As one of the UK's leading and premier FMCG Businesses they currently supply to over 500 Wholesale customers, Key Multi-National Retailers and Food Manufacturers. Reporting to the Purchasing Director, this role will involve building relationships with new and existing suppliers and developing a supply and inventory strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the sourcing of Packaging (key function) and added ingredients. You will be an experienced Buyer (ideally CIPS qualified) with experience of price negotiation and purchasing and controlling stock levels to meet business requirements. Previous experience gained within an FMCG environment and meetings targets and KPI's is essential. Whilst predominantly based at our clients Head Office in Manchester, candidates will require the ability to travel and spend time between our clients two production facilities in the North West. Key Responsibilities Will Include: - Manage and continuously review company stocks of packaging & ingredients to ensure inventory is at agreed levels to meet and support the requirements of the business. - Negotiate and Purchase packaging & ingredients in line with inventory targets and production plans. - Continually review the overall "value" offered by existing suppliers and ensure that the Company's purchasing remains globally competitive. - Develop new supplier relationships from new origins to continually support and broaden our supply chain and product mix - Liaise with the sales teams to ensure our market price proposition is correctly positioned of the finished product. - Complete routine stock and inventory checks and keep accurate account of findings. - Timely and effective communication of forecasts and purchase orders to suppliers and internally reporting to the Purchasing Director. Essential Experience: - Ideally CIPS Qualified - Strong negotiations and communication skills with the ability to close deals - Previous Purchasing / Buying experience gained within an FMCG company, ideally food manufacturing - Analytical approach with strong attention to detail. - The ability to travel between sites in the North West
