Are you an experienced Accounts professional looking to take on a new challenge? If so, we are now recruiting for a Sales Ledger Accounts Assistant and are looking for individuals just like you! Helston Garages Group is privately owned and has been trading for nearly 60 years. It consists of more than 35 franchised dealerships based in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset. It is one of the largest motor groups in the UK, employing nearly 1,100 people with an annual turnover exceeding £0.6 billion. Following continued growth, we are currently recruiting for ambitious individuals to be based at our Shared Services Accounting Function in Exeter serving our Jaguar, Land Rover and Peugeot brands. The Sales Ledger Accounts Assistant is a fantastic & exciting opportunity for someone who is seeking a varied and exciting permanent position, working as part of our friendly team, reporting directly to the Sales Ledger Team Leader. Joining the team, you will be entitled to a salary of £17,000 - £17,500 per annum and hours of work will be from 8:30am - 5:30pm, with one hour for lunch. Sales Ledger Accounts Assistant Responsibilities: You will work directly with the Management team to ensure that the assets of the business are managed in their most efficient and effective manner and to implement systems and procedures that comply with both current legislation and Group policy. Some of the daily tasks would include: - Chase Debtors to ensure payments are received within Group terms. - Process Receipts Received. - Prepare Monthly Statements. - Review Credit Applications & Group Credit Limits. - Post Daily Banking. - Reconcile Daily Credit Card Receipts. - Daily Bank Reconciliations. - Review & Control Aftersales Cash & Warranty Debtors. - Review & Control Vehicle Sales Debtors. - Prepare Daily dealership banking. - Work directly with both the Management Teams and the Accounts Team so as to ensure that the assets of the businesses are managed efficiently and effectively manner. - Provide reports for consideration by Directors and Senior Management. - Assist the Franchise Accountants in all financial aspects of the dealerships, alongside the dealership management teams and the Head Office Accounting Team. - Promote and maintain positive working relationships with all Directors, Heads of Business/Dealer Principals, Managers and colleagues. - Maintain clear and concise accounting records ensuring that they comply with current legislation and Group policies - Advise the Franchise Accountants and/or other Directors/Senior Managers of any known financial risk to the business. - Promote all businesses internally and externally - Ensure that all systems and procedures in place within the business comply with current legislation and Group policy - Maintain professional relationships with all internal and external customers - Work proactively with all relevant staff to improve business practices. The ideal Sales Ledger Accounts Assistant will: - Ideally have experience within the Motor Trade however not essential. - Proven experience within a similar role. - Be a good communicator whilst being enthusiastic and proactive. - Excellent ICT skills, including excel. - Analytical skills and an attention to detail.
