Senior Linux Engineer (DevOps) Greater London £70,000 - 100,000 + Competitive Benefits package Thatcher MCS have been engaged by a Global, Tier-1 IT Consultancy. With a reputation for delivering first class digital services whilst harnessing progressive concepts in technology, our client is currently working to deliver a large scale digital transformation project in London. To support this project alongside business growth, our client is now seeking a senior level Linux specialist, with experience operating in a DevOps culture and Cloud (Ideally AWS) environment and to deliver cross-functional engineering projects with a focus on platform automation. The Engineer will also be responsible for working collaboratively with other engineers both from a software development and infrastructure background. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with tools typically used in a DevOps environment such as Docker, Kubernetes, Puppet/Ansible, and Jenkins, and will have a strong understanding of CI/CD. Key Responsibilities: - System provisioning & automation, monitoring, metrics, scalability, security and hardening - Overall responsibility for the projects Linux Infrastructure in relation to common standards - Health and upkeep of the critical services - Working closely between Development and IT Operations teams - Automation of Linux, providing frictionless access to services to the rest of the organisation Required skills & experience: - Strong communication skills both in written and verbal form - Knowledge in new technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) - Reasonable fluency in Ruby, Python, Bash or Go (Desirable) - Knowledge of HIDS, NIDS and security hardening - Sound knowledge of Linux - Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Puppet or Ansible - Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment - Experience of IP networking - Experience of building infrastructure in the cloud (AWS) and designing for the cloud - Understanding of cloud concepts The successful candidate will be privy to endless development opportunity, exposure to rich technology environments and highly competitive remuneration packages.
