My client, an extremely interesting and constantly evolving organization is looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a small highly technical team who administer a Wintel estate with its associated networks and applications. The role will involve the following: * Support all aspects of the IT infrastructure, including 1st line user support * Keep up to date documentation on all aspects of the IT infrastructure * Perform the role of Technical Lead for major projects, ensuring delivery of appropriate solutions * Manage preventative maintenance solutions, such as IT infrastructure monitoring and replacement programs * Monitor and forecast requirements of the business and propose solutions to feed into budget planning * Monitor industry trends and report on their relevance to the business * Ensure business continuity services are fit for purpose and manage testing * Ensure the IT infrastructure is secure and manage measures to ensure its resilience * Manage policies and procedures relevant to IT infrastructure best practices * Support the IT Trainee in their development * Provide 24-7 out of hours' support, shared with a small team of 3, for key services Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: * Must be willing to work at height * Experience with Microsoft technologies (Windows/Exchange) and VMWare essential * Experience with Linux, Watchguard, Smoothwall, Spam Titan, Cisco and Cisco Meraki desirable * Approachable with a high standard of interpersonal and communication skill * The ability to troubleshoot a variety of IT related issues * The ability to support non-technical customer and explain complex IT concepts in simple terms * A positive can do attitude and flexibility in taking on a broad range of IT responsibilities and tasks at short notice * Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines * Excellent broad understanding of IT concepts, technologies and trends * Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and make balanced decisions * High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
