Software Specialists and Support Roles (Experienced and Graduate) £33,005 - £47,178 (depending on role and experience) London MI6 is the UK's foreign human intelligence agency. In our world, sophisticated technology and innovative techniques enable global covert operations. Our talented people tackle everything from terrorism to espionage, all while gathering secret intelligence. That way, we can continue promoting and protecting the UK's national interests, both at home and overseas. The Role: We've got an opportunity for you to join our world-class team and enjoy a varied and challenging role. Contributing to all stages of the software development lifecycle, you'll be involved in everything from design and programming to resolving problems or fixing bugs. It's about integrating highly sensitive systems within tight timeframes, plus liaising with colleagues across the service. Not only will you safeguard the nation, you'll also receive bespoke training to enhance and strengthen your skills. It's a chance to take your skills to a new level in languages like Java, JavaScript, .Net, C#, C++, Perl, Python, Red hat Certified Systems and Hadoop frameworks or build expertise on areas such as database application design. About You: As an experienced professional you'll have a sound understanding and experience of at least one of the programming languages listed above, as well as Agile development methodologies, whilst being a strong communicator. Experienced in a development or non-development environment, you'll be a natural problem solver, thrive under pressure and enjoy keeping up with emerging technologies. As a forward-thinking individual, you'll have added to your technical skills through a degree or vocational courses. If you are a recent IT graduate, you'll have some understanding of the software development lifecycle and will have experience with at least one programming language. With a background in a development or a non-development environment, you'll be a strong communicator, a natural problem-solver and enjoy keeping up with emerging technologies. Forward-thinking and curious, you'll also have a strong desire to learn new skills and progress your own development. Apply Our roles are as individual as you are. Find out more and apply via our website. To apply to MI6 you must be a born or naturalised British citizen, over 21 years old and normally have been based in the UK for six of the last ten years. You should not discuss your application with anyone other than your partner or a close family member providing that they are British. They should also be made aware of the importance of discretion. MI6 strives for diversity in the workplace and is committed to the creation and maintenance of a climate in which all staff are treated fairly on the grounds of merit and ability.
