Site Reliability Engineer / DevOps (Ruby, Perl, Python, Java or PHP) Overview: RG4 Partners are recruiting for a Site Reliability Engineer to join a global technology rich online Financial Service provider with 5 million customers. Responsible for design and development of automated solutions to business teams and work closely with every department to resolve issues, assist with root-cause analysis, and implement fixes for workaround requests. They are also imperative in the integration of new application-related utilities to meet business requirements, while continuously looking for ways to improve overall system performance. The SRE team is uniquely positioned as a gatekeeper of business-critical system and act as the technology operations backbone of the company - ensuring all back-end systems, front-end services and business-critical processes are functioning correctly for successful enterprise operations. Responsibilities: - Identify and automate manual workarounds and process improvements - Process customer service requests and meet established SLAs - Utilize Rails console to resolve customer account issues - Monitor the availability, latency, scalability and efficiency of all services - Understand the loan life cycle, transactional logic, and framework of our finance models - Implement reports and automations for business stakeholders - Assist with major incidents from identification and troubleshooting through to service restoration - Reconcile daily bank files and monitor critical application processes - Troubleshoot issues and discrepancies with the appropriate individuals, teams, or vendors - Identify, document, and recommend solutions for bugs, processes, and feature enhancements - Perform periodic on-call duty as part of the SRE team - Resolve office printer and network connectivity issues involving wireless - Troubleshoot and repair laptop/desktop hardware and operating systems (Windows and Mac OS) - All jobs have the potential to travel Experience: - Experience with Ruby, Perl, Python, Java, or PHP - Experience troubleshooting office equipment (Laptops, Desktops, Network Connectivity and Printing issues). You understand Mac and PC systems, and can troubleshoot common user issues - Can perform Help Desk as well as SRE duties - Capable of learning new technologies and concepts quickly, and continuously building upon that knowledge - Can balance and prioritize multiple projects/tasks and remain calm under pressure - Problem solving skills- if you don't know how to do something, you consider it a challenge to try to figure it out on your own - Ability to write accurate and efficient SQL queries - Strong understanding of IT infrastructure (Linux or systems administration, network technologies, relational databases, web technologies, etc.) Advantageous - A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology - Previous e-commerce experience - Worked with monitoring and log engines like Zenoss, Nagios, New Relic, and Splunk - Experience with graphing/stats engines like Graphite, Mathematica or Cacti - Installed or configured open source software (Debian, Postgres, Rabbit, etc.) - An understanding of virtualization platforms like OpenStack, Amazon AWS, VMWare and Xen
