My client is a leading IT / Systems contractor in the Rail Sector and they have a requirement for an IT Networking Engineer to join their expanding team in London to work on projects based in the UK. The IT Network Engineer role will require you to show proven experience of IT Networking, hosting, loading software and being able to offer training on the software. The IT Network role will require you to work in a management team overseeing the roll out of this product into a number of train operating companies. The product is being installed onto a number of TOC's (train operating companies) fleets of trains up and down the country. The successful candidate will take a structured training course with the manufacture to learn the product covering all the IT Networking / systems before starting work with the management team. This role is offering a huge amount of career progression working with an established project management team that will offer you the chance to progress into senior management. General tasks include: Establishing the networking system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting and enforcing system standards Training engineers and end users on the systems being installed Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with the client to ensure a smooth running of systems Remote support of on-site engineers and end users / customers during installation Troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation Liaising with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis Speaking with customers via email and phone for progress & updates on installations Ideally the candidate will have qualified in IT and will have one of the following below: - computer science computer software/computer systems engineering computer systems and networks electrical/electronic engineering network security management physics The position is based in London but will require some travel to clients offices (train operating companies) when discussing upcoming projects. Starting salary of £ 38 - 45K with bonus, travel (car or allowance), overtime, healthcare, pension + benefits.
