Job Summary This role will assist the Group IT Chief Architect, and the rest of the architecture function, to produce a future, strategic, IT architecture blueprint, and associated IT transformation roadmap(s), for the group globally, along with the associated architecture principles, policies and standards, and other architectural templates and guidelines, that provide the global architecture framework. In particular this role is to act as the IT Enterprise Architect domain specialist for both the Business Architecture and Applications Architecture domains, with a focus on the architecture strategy across the 4 principle Business Units : - Re-Insurance - Specialty Insurance - Employee Benefits - Group Functions Therefore, in addition to the overall enterprise architecture function responsibilities already defined, the emphasis of this role will be on working very closely with each of the individual Business Unit CIOs and their aligned architecture and design teams, in particular the Lead Solutions Architect for each individual Business Unit to: - Understand the future strategy for each individual Business Units, and to assist in defining and agreeing a suitable IT strategy that will fulfill their future needs. - To jointly define and agree, in conjunction with the Lead Solutions Architects, the Business Architecture capability models for each individual Business Unit. - To lead on the analysis of those Business capabilities that are common to more than one individual Business Unit, and to define common strategic IT solutions that can be used/re-used across all Business Units. - Similarly to assess, in conjunction with the Lead Solutions Architects, the client differentiation points across the customer service delivery value chain, through the application of Pace Layering categorisation for the overall L0/L1/L2/L3/L4 Business Capabilities models (e.g. which capabilities are USPs, Differentiators or Standard items). - To analyse the current IT Solutions landscape for each individual Business Unit, regards their current suitability to support their business requirements and processes, and to identifying other opportunities for both improvement and rationalisation. - To produce and maintain the overall portfolio assessment and categorisation (Invest, Tolerate, Modernise, Eliminate) of the current IT applications solutions estate for each individual Business Unit Experience & Education Requirements: Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will have gain significant experience, and have a proven track record, in acting as a senior Enterprise Architect in large, complex, global organisations. Proven ability to act as an architectural ambassador, able to clearly articulate and gain stakeholder agreement and support, at all levels, as to the nature, responsibilities and benefits of establishing a strong IT architectural capability. Will also possess excellent communications and influence skills, combined with strong commercial negotiating acumen (potentially gained from a consulting background). Proven capability for both strategic "big picture" thinking, coupled with a pragmatic common sense approach to implementing change and achieving tangible benefits in the short term. Essential Skills: - An experienced Enterprise Business and Application Architect. Fully conversant with business architecture, business process analysis and business process modelling techniques. - Significant experience and understanding of modern applications solutions architecture, including loose coupled solutions architecture frameworks and the use of a hybrid Buy/Build applications solutions strategy. - Similarly conversant with applications architecture, including applications portfolio assessment and the production of both as-is and to-be Target Applications Landscapes (TALs) and associated Roadmaps. - Significant experience in both defining and successfully implementing business process and IT solutions rationalisation and standardisation initiatives, to deliver significant quality improvements, in large, complex, global organisations. - Deep knowledge and understanding of the relevance, techniques, practice & approaches for conceptual and logical business architecture, in particular the production and maintenance of both business & IT capability models and associated artefacts (e.g. value chain & heat map analysis). - Deep knowledge and understanding of business process analysis. modelling and design (including BPML, BPEL, etc.), alongside process-oriented programming alongside the concept of a BPMS as an IT capability for management of business processes. - Experience in the use of Pace Layering analysis and categorisation techniques, against both business and applications solutions architectures. - Experience in mapping Business Process Models to both Business and IT Capabilities Models and Applications Portfolios, as well as to Enterprise Logical Data Models (ELDMs) and associated data standards. - Experience in the successful adoption and use of organisation wide data standards, definitions and models across a portfolio of individual applications solutions, to improve both data quality and timeliness and to reduce the need for complex individual data validations and transformations/translations.
