IPS Principal Engineer Our client's Integrated Problem Solving (IPS) Applications team is a regional team that is focussing on embedding reactive and preventative problem-solving methodologies within the production facilities. The team is concerned with two facets. Firstly, in the short term to upskill our people in reactive problem-solving methods to help tackle business critical issues at the line using our internal 4CP root causing methodology. Secondly, to become a centre of excellence (CoE) for the regional Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) programme. As part of this team you will have the opportunity to operate at different levels within the business from the shop-floor to senior management. With your proven track record in deployment of operational excellence methodologies (including TPM and Lean), you will be responsible for learning the TPM approach. This will entail working with consultants and our client's European manufacturing facilities with the ultimate goal of being able to provide programme support materials, retain knowledge of the implementation approach from TPM, create a learning and development training programme, coaching teams during the implementation, running audits and assessments and coaching problem-solving teams as required. Key Responsibilities of the IPS Principal Engineer - Point of contact for a European manufacturing facility through their TPM deployment - provide support, coaching, learn the methods with them, conduct audits and reports and sit on the regional steering committee. - Become an expert in a TPM pillar(s) and be the point of contact for Regional Pillar Networks, to share knowledge across the plants and retain expertise. - Work closely with external TPM consultants in order to retain TPM knowledge within the business. - Manage your projects proactively and independently, offering a value add service to the production facilities and supporting them through a period of internal change. - Train and coach shop-floor teams through problem solving projects. - Visit manufacturing sites when appropriate to assess capability levels and deliver support. Develop key working relationships between the group function and the manufacturing sites Qualifications and Experience required for the IPS Principal Engineer role - Degree in Chemistry or relevant Science/Engineering discipline with significant professional experience - Experience of TPM deployment or expertise in individual pillars, such as Focussed Improvement, Autonomous Maintenance or Professional Maintenance. - Experience of running DMAICT projects as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt would be ideal but not essential. - Appreciation of statistical methods to aid problem solving and the use of root cause analysis to achieve business improvement. - Extensive experience in a Technical or Manufacturing environment in the chemical industry - Awareness of core quality tools to ensure a way of working that protects product quality through compliance to the ISO/TS standard
