NHBC has a unique opportunity available for a Fire Engineer / Building Control Surveyor (Major Projects) to join the team based in Central London. We are offering a salary of £59,000 - £65,500 + Car (or allowance £3,700) + Bonus + Benefits. About the Fire Engineer / Building Control Surveyor role: You will lead the fire strategy assessment of technical risks by the application of expert knowledge and understanding of UK fire safety legislation, Building Regulations, codes, national / European standards (and where applicable NHBC Standards) to complex, high risk and high value new build and conversion projects. - Lead the fire strategy / building control assessment of complex, high risk and high value new build and conversion projects. Manage the input of other NHBC building (control) surveying specialists. - Engage, influence and negotiate with developers, their design teams and external fire engineers to provide expert knowledge, and professional and technical advice on Building Regulations, fire safety legislation, NHBC Standards and other relevant codes and standards in order to guide them towards compliant solutions that present an acceptable technical risk to NHBC. - Build professional relationships with Fire Authorities. - Check and/or manage the checking of design details, in accordance with NHBC policy, to ensure they comply with NHBC Standards and guidance, Building Regulations, codes and standards including close liaison with fire authorities and other regulatory bodies. - Provide planned and responsive support to other NHBC staff, including inspectors, building control surveyors, technical project managers and engineers and where applicable carry out site inspection of building work as part of the risk management strategy for high risk projects. - Be involved with more wider audits or actions where specific focus is required.
