A leading specialist software house has an immediate requirement for you, a senior analyst programmer / software developer. You'll be working with extremely seasoned VB6 developer adding new functionality to support new and existing clients in all areas: UI features, backend, and interfaces to other software. The software is targeted at workstations, servers, and tablets and is used by hundreds of clients. It offers touch screen features and has a reputation for being simple to use. There are also excellent opportunity for you to cross-train into .NET. You must be able to travel, sometimes internationally for periods, and be prepared to work hospitality hours from time to time. Location: Daresbury, WA4 4AE Salary: Circa £40,000 - £45,000+ The Basic Key Skills required are: - VB6 - Visual Basic 6 - SQL Server 2008+ - Transact-SQL - ADODB - ActiveX/COM - Windows O/s - API - Networking - TCP/IP - SQL Server DB Admin - User-defined controls in VB6 The following are mandatory at expected at a very proficient level - Use of object-oriented techniques in VB6 - SQL Server 2008+ Transact-SQL and ADODB - ActiveX/COM - Multi-user programming techniques - Defensive programming techniques - English language We would expect you to be knowledge in the following areas - Hospitality, in particular restaurants/EPOS. - Designing and maintaining APIs/interfaces. - Solution architecture with Microsoft technologies. - Configuration management. - Implementing solutions with backwards compatibility. - Implementing UI/UX for touchscreen. - Software security techniques. Also the following is expected, but to a lesser degree - Knowledge of Windows O/s - API - Networking - TCP/IP - SQL Server DB Admin - User-defined controls in VB6 Advantageous - .NET - C# Who are you?
