Salary Range: £45k - £60k My client looking for someone to work alongside our UK dev team and bring some much-needed rigour to their DevOps practices. They live in the Azure cloud (plus a tiny bit of AWS). As we've grown we've used a bit of everything: simple VMs, App Services, Service Bus, SQL Database, Storage, Application Insights, Service Fabric, Cosmos. Our ecosystem encompasses software, remote hardware devices, and fixed-wire and cellular comms. We've got production, demonstration and development environments. Everything is currently managed by developers within the dev team. And there aren't enough hours in the day. They want someone who can come and take charge their platform, allowing developers to focus on building it. Things you'll need - A broad understanding of the Azure platform - Real opinions about DevOps best practices, and the knowledge and experience to back them up - Some decent networking chops (something we're weak on) - A compulsion to automate everything! - Experience of working with, and educating, developers to make systems easier and better to run operationally Things we'd like you to have (but not essential) - Up-to-date knowledge of latest products and trends in the industry, particularly in Azure - Passion for what you do, and any tangible examples of how that makes you better at it - An eye for simplicity - Sufficient qualifications and experience. Yes, that's entirely subjective. You'll know if you've got it. - A decent taste in music (that, on the other hand, is entirely objective) What it's like working here All their non-dev people are in the UK along with part of our dev team. The rest of the dev team is in Canada. they get together when we need to. The rest of the time they live and breathe Slack and Skype. Don't expect to be spoon-fed. They're involved in some sizable, exciting projects and need people who are comfortable taking ownership of whatever they are doing. Good people earn respect very quickly here. It's fast-paced, and they wouldn't have it any other way!
