We are currently looking for a Chief Engineer - Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Battery Systems to work for a global engineering and strategic, technical and environmental consultancy business based in Warwickshire Reference No: J008901 Job Title: Chief Engineer - Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Battery Systems Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum (D.O.E) Hours: 40 Hours Per Week The Role: *You will be primarily responsible for leading hybrid business development, proposal and project delivery activities - particularly in the areas of hybrid and electric vehicle high voltage battery systems, and associated technologies *Your everyday tasks will include the provision of: - Technical and commercial leadership in developing new business opportunities - Compelling project proposals that demonstrate superior value to our customers - Outstanding project delivery *You will be comfortable in meeting new customers and developing relationships, working closely with our commercial and sector leaders, operating within the Global Product Group team and working with other Product Groups to win and deliver our mild hybrid projects and Leading a team and mentoring engineers. Key Responsibilities: *You will understand our client's business, industry and trends to build and sell solutions that respond to their needs *Defining new business streams for hybrid and electric vehicle battery systems and developing associated selling strategies and supporting material through collaboration with the global team, other product groups, market sectors, commercial and engineering teams to develop and sell a portfolio of high value solutions *Providing technical lead in developing business opportunities with relevant material and preparing proposals (documentation, plans, costing, commercial package) for global customers through to order conversion including successful contract negotiations *Technical leadership of assigned projects by leading technical reviews, defining technical resource requirements for successful project execution and acting as primary technical liaison with clients *Support development of the company technology strategy and product offerings for hybrid and electric vehicle battery systems in the fields of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, off highway, marine, rail and stationary energy storage Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience: *You are a degree qualified, and ideally chartered, engineer with a significant industry track record in high voltage battery systems product design & application. *Your background in hybrid and electric vehicle battery systems product development projects at a Tier 1, OEM or consultancy *Your history of defining and preparing winning proposals, with the ability to develop strong, long-lasting customer relationships at senior level and profitable revenue streams *Deep understanding of cell chemistries used in hybrid & electric vehicles. *Knowledge of battery system architectures and battery management systems *Experience of electrical and electronic component integration (up to 600V), design & development on low volume or high-volume products (connectors, bus bars, cables, contactors & fusing) *Your understanding of project delivery within a systems engineering environment and familiarity with the delivery process from requirements capture through to design validation. *Your experience in compliance engineering to external standards, such as, EMC, vehicle safety, functional safety ISO26262 etc and in delivering DFMEA for hybrid or electric vehicle systems *Your ability to plan and deliver projects within budget and within the scoped time *Your real passion for crafting new ideas and promoting business cases for patent application *Your enthusiastic and self-motivated personality, which compliments your drive and dedication to deliver technically challenging projects *Flexibility on work location and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally on short assignments. *Strong leadership, teamwork, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills and ability to coordinate and lead multi-disciplined teams *Preparation and presentation of technical papers *Experience in a model-based development of controls algorithms in an automotive environment *Hands on experience of working live with HV systems (>50V) *Experience in calibration of Hybrid systems *Familiar with laboratory & field development & test equipment. *Experience of DCDC converter and battery charger design and development.
