Data Centre Installation & Service Engineer - Multi-Disciplined Cabling Systems - Greater Manchester area To £28k + Overtime + Company Van + Benefits Our client is a well established, expanding and profitable business with a proven track record of developing and delivering leading-edge fibre optic and copper cabling solutions, designed to improve network resilience and speed of communications. The quality of its Cabling Systems & Fibre products combined with tried and tested Installation, Maintenance & Support services have led to an enviable portfolio of major Corporate Clients in the Telecoms and Data Centre sectors in both the UK and Overseas. Due to continued growth, they now require additional Engineers to join their highly qualified and experienced Installation & Service Team. Reporting to the customers' Data Centre Manager and internal Operational Management, you will be responsible for carrying out high quality fibre and copper infrastructure installations in addition to providing an effective and responsive service including data centre support, patching of both fibre and copper, break-fix support, decommissioning of equipment and infrastructure, maintaining documentation and management systems, testing and small-scale project implementations. As an experienced Engineer, educated to (minimum) City & Guilds level (or equivalent experience) in a relevant fibre optic and/or copper structured cabling discipline, you will be able to demonstrate proven experience of: - Installing multi-disciplined cabling systems; - Fault tracing and rectification on data infrastructures; - Working in and supporting a Data Centre environment; - Fibre splicing/Copper termination; - ILM and OTDR testing of MM and SM fibre networks; - Fibre & Copper patching; - Agile and responsive to customer demands; - Diligence with all documentation; - Collating/monitoring data; Desirable: - Knowledge of Data Centre technologies/solutions; cold-aisle containment, power, cooling, resilient solution design; - Design and implementation eg Cisco, Brocade, Nexus; - Report writing; - CDCTP qualified. Whilst it is preferable that you have gained this experience in a Data Centre environment, other relevant Data Communications sector backgrounds (e.g. the Royal Signals/Armed Forces) will be considered.
