Our client provides a cloud hosted â?~software-as-a-service' solution to Vets enabling them to manage all aspects of setting up and running their business. They are informal and friendly, with a flexible working environment, but focused on providing a professional solution and excellent support for their customers. The salary for this role is from £17,000 upwards depending on skills and experience. This role is principally concerned with two areas: Firstly, you will be helping to deliver our solution to new customers. In order to take on a new customer who has an existing system, we have to extract information from a number of different file and database formats in various operating systems. The data needs to be collected, processed and then mapped to VetIT, and the VetIT software itself needs to be configured according to customers' requirements. Secondly, you will be responding to emails and calls from existing customers who need first and second line support on the VetIT product. Such issues need to either be resolved, or escalated to third line support, with appropriate documentation raised accordingly. Typical actions required in order to provide customer support will include: - Providing verbal or written instructions in the use of VetIT. - Agreeing explicit data extract or update requirements with customers. - Running existing SQL scripts to extract or update data. - Writing new SQL scripts to provide data extracts or apply data updates. - If you are enthusiastic and capable, you will progress quickly! You will need to combine the ability to deal with a diverse range of customers, with the technical skills to manipulate and map data using tools such as SQL and other tools such as scripting languages. Any directly relevant experience will be useful, but is not essential. You must however have some relevant technical knowledge, be able to show an active interest in IT and software generally, and be prepared to develop your technical skills and capabilities. You must be organised, literate and numerate, with a confident and mature manner. A good attention to detail is also important. You must be calm under pressure and capable of taking on a wide variety of tasks. You must be able to seek and deliver positive solutions for customers where possible, but be confident and assertive enough to make it clear if there is no quick or easy answer, so that customers always know where they stand. Some UK travel will be required from time to time, so you must have a driving licence and your own vehicle.
