Job Summary: To assist the Group Chief Architect, and the rest of the architecture function, to produce a future, strategic, IT architecture blueprint, and associated IT transformation roadmap, for the business functions globally, working with the Business Unit CIO in managing portfolio demand and feeding into the overall target landscape. Whilst this role is will report direct to the Business Unit CIO, this role is also a member of Global Architecture Practice, and thus is also accountable to the Group Chief Architect. The Lead Solutions Architects defer to the Enterprise Architect specialists in part for Integration and in full for Service, Security & Technical domains, as well as with the Group Chief Architect and team regards defining the longer term IT architecture for speciality business functions globally. Having responsibility for all solutions architecture (who are accountable for High Level Designs and other individual solution aspects within the Business Unit) Solution Designers (who are accountable for lower level functional/technical designs) and Solution Analysts (who are accountable in determining needs for the Business Unit). - Capture, documentation and verification of the existing IT solutions (applications and interfaces, and associated underlying technologies) currently used across the various individual Region or Business Unit - Analysis of the current technical health of these various systems, and their associated interfaces, and production of recommendations for any technical remediation required. - Impact assessment, and identification and specification of any IT solutions changes required to enable the introduction of the proposed process changes identified by the BPM Blueprint team. - Ensure that existing IT solutions details are all correctly captured in the global solutions inventories. - Analysis of the current functional fit of these various systems, regards their current suitability to support the business requirements and processes across the various regions, and identification and proposal of any potential further changes to improve same. - To lead on the quantification as to the size/complexity and associated timescales/costs required to delivery these various IT solution changes. - Production of recommendations regards any potential systems rationalisation and consolidation opportunities that may exist. Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities: - Each Lead Solutions Architect will be responsible for leading and managing the additional IT resources that are aligned to each individual Business Unit CIO, and which perform solutions analysis, architecture & design roles - Identify the architectural capability alignment to each Business Unit CIO that focuses on the specific functionality required to deliver business requirements. Importantly also agrees the non functional requirements (performance, availability and scalability etc..) - Each Lead Solutions Architect will also work with their CIO to understand the Business Unit strategy and then, in conjunction with the Group Chief Architect and core Enterprise Architecture team, to define both the Business Unit IT strategy & associated Business Unit to target architecture vision and associated IT change roadmap(s) Experience & Education Requirements: Essential: - Several years of experience in architecture roles which have covered significant IT implementations - A broad understanding of business, application, technology and data architecture, with depth in one or two of those areas Awareness of formal modelling practices such as UML or BPMN/BPEL would be useful but not mandatory - An understanding of architecture framework(s) would be beneficial - Experience of integration concepts, SOA & Web Services and SharePoint would be beneficial - Experience of presenting to staff at all levels - Report writing Desirable: - Full TOGAF certification is preferred - Use of architecture toolsets, and the production and use of UML artefacts - Highly collaborative and able to pull information from others with minimal impact / oversight - Familiarity with the London Insurance Market, including a good awareness of business processes, issues and initiatives, is desirable but not essential. - Excellent documentation and presentation skills - Critical thinking and problem solving skills - Influencing, building and maintaining relationships - Self starter, with the ability to effectively prioritise, manage and complete multiple items to short deadlines - Excellent interpersonal skills
