The Blair Project is a youth-led social enterprise which uses a powerful combination of motorsport and digital technologies to enthuse young people (aged 14-25) to pursue careers in the fast growth digital and technology sectors were skills shortages are the most acute. Our founder is 22 year old Nile Henry. We are growing rapidly and have recently opened our new vocational training centre called DigiFutures near the centre of Wigan to help learners of all abilities and ages to gain the skills they need to work in a variety of digital sector roles such as cyber security, computer aided design (CAD), rapid prototyping & manufacture using 3D printers (CAM), learning analytics, data analytics& management, web & app development, digital marketing & e-commerce as well as employability skills. Innovation is at the forefront of everything we do; we like to challenge the status quo of traditional education and training, and instead create alternative pathways for young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to get the skills and opportunities they need to move into well paid jobs and enjoy brighter futures. Currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual with a keen interest in computers, technology and the internet who would like to learn web and app development and train for a Level 3 software development technician apprenticeship. You will be working as part of a small and dynamic team. We need someone with excellent communication skills and the desire to work hard, learn new things and develop their skill sets. This is an 18-month apprenticeship programme role where the successful candidate will work as part of a small team, combining hands-on work experience with training in software development delivered by a specialist training provider. Key Responsibilities: - To learn and develop the key skills required to support the development of e-learning programmes and learning apps. - To build and test simple, high quality code for software and link to data bases - To support in-house development of predominantly web-based applications using systems and data sourcing from (not exclusively): SAP, MS-SQL Server, MySQL and external sources - To develop a basic knowledge of (AWS) Amazon Web Services environment - To support with the design and delivery of systems applications for: - Employees - Intranet and Applications - Development and expansion of the company's website - Consumers - Websites - To work as part of project teams, supporting with various aspects of the project management / development lifecycle - Once trained and to a proficient level, support with development of existing applications - To support with elements of Data Management and Database work - To support with the design of processes and systems Required Skills: - Experience using computers - Experience using Microsoft Office products (word and Excel) - Experience using websites - Experience sending emails - Knowledge of the internet - Good interpersonal skills. - Good communication skills, writing skills and people skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. - Good IT skills. - Good organisational and time management skills. - Able to correctly prioritise tasks. - Take pride in your work. - Willing to travel occasionally. - Must be keen to progress, learn and adapt to new environments and challenging situations. - Not afraid to get involved in a project outside of a traditional skill set. Beneficial Skills / Experience / Qualities: - Experience building website - Experience creating graphics - Dealing with customers (in person / via email / on the phone) - Interest in design of websites - Knowledge of search engines - Willingness to learn new skills and rise to new challenges. - The persistence to work hard to achieve the best possible outcome. Qualifications: - A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) at grade C or above including English and Maths. Additional Information: - Monday - Friday 9am-4pm with 1 hour for Lunch (30 Hours per week). - A pay review will be carried out after 3 months and 6 months respectively.
