JAVA SOFTWARE ENGINEER / JAVA DEVELOPER / DEVELOPER / PROGRAMMER - Java, J2EE, Javascript ***Flexible working hours & home working available*** Java (SE/EE), Spring, Apache, JavaScript, Angular.JS, Node.JS ***will consider all levels*** ***We will consider candidates with less experience as training/development can be provided*** A fantastic opportunity has arisen for aJava Developer / Software Engineer / Developer to join a prestigious organisation who have office across the UK and Ireland. The successful candidate will work in cross functional, agile squads and will be part of a team of highly experienced engineers. Software Engineers within the Technical Architecture & Development teams are responsible for the development and maintenance of existing and new software products & systems across a number of technology platforms, from research & design through to implementation, training and support. TECHNICAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Junior-Mid level - Min 1 - 1.5 years experience with Java or Javascript Mid level & above - A track record of delivering high quality software on Java (SE/EE) Unix platforms (Spring, Apache) with solid and demonstrable engineering understanding across architecture tiers. Experience of JavaScript, C/C++, Perl & .Net platform is also highly desirable - Hands-on experience in building REST/HTTP/XML/JSON web/micro-services and APIs (Java, Node.JS) - Experience in modern web frameworks and server side development, including data persistence technologies (MongoDB, SQL, Elasticsearch) - Experience in user experience technologies (AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Ajax) - Experience with testing frameworks - Knowledge of design and implementation patterns - Knowledge of software best practices (XP, TDD) - Experience of applying Agile, Lean and Continuous Delivery approaches - Experience of working in an OSS-centric environment - Experience or familiarity with cloud or server-less architectures VCS skills (Git, Mercurial, CVS) - Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar, or equivalent industry experience ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES - Investigation, maintenance and improvement of current applications - Elaboration and estimation of new or modified systems development - Agreeing proposals with sponsors - Collaboration with business stakeholders and other IT areas on delivery projects - Up to 10% of your time will be spent on research and innovation to advance the companies products & services PERSON SKILLS / CHARACTERISTICS We're looking for someone who will: - Build resilient, scalable and performant applications - Take responsibility for software quality - Automate everything: tests, deployment, monitoring - Adopt a continual improvement mindset - Have a passion for software engineering and craftsmanship - Prove to be an effective communicator (written and verbal) with strong interpersonal skills - Be flexible, dependable and eager to contribute in a team environment - Naturally be an analytical thinker - Have an aptitude to independently learn LOCATION: Howden, Goole (DN14) East Yorkshire, on the M62 towards Hull. Commutable from Hull, Grimsby, Lincoln, Howden, Goole, Selby, Pontefract, Wakefield, Sheffield, Driffield, York, Scarborough. Flexible work hours and home working supported.
