About the role The Senior Software Tester and Support role presents and exciting opportunity to join a small team developing, integrating and supporting services primarily for BBSRC, but also for and in conjunction with the other research councils. You will join a high performance team delivering solutions to BBSRC and its other clients. As a key part of successful AGILE delivery team you must be a highly motivated individual who has as eye for detail, with a focus on continual improvement of your own skills and the services you support. The role includes the design delivery and implementation of tests as part of a team delivering solutions to meet the business needs of BBSRC. You will be liaising with staff from across the BBSRC Office at all levels. As a key member of the team you will be expected to lead other IT staff and users as part of delivering your work, and you will take a proactive role to mentoring and improving the knowledge of others. It is essential that you bring your experience, not just in testing, to bear on any problems and participate actively in seeking and developing solutions that meet the business needs. You will lead the groups work in the development of a test strategy covering all areas of testing, including developing and mentoring others in the use of automated testing tools as part of a continuous deployment strategy. Whilst the majority of your time will be spent developing and improving test frameworks for the systems and services the team provides, you will also play an important role in supporting users of services and troubleshooting issues and problems. About you You will have A levels or relevant equivalent qualification or experience and have Professional Qualifications in Microsoft Systems Support and Administration. You must have demonstrable Software testing or Software Development experience and experience in continuous software delivery and developing unit and integration tests. You will be able to write well-structured and clearly articulated documents with the ability to produce planning estimates for development work. You will have logical problem solving skills, be able to plan and prioritise your own work and have excellent organisational skills.
