Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will receive Microsoft training and accreditation through online learning and practical experience. These qualifications are highly respected and sought after and the skills, knowledge and experience you will gain whilst on the programme are invaluable, giving you the best possible chance at starting your professional career in the industry.

Duties and responsibilities

As a Level 3 Software Developer Apprentice, you will be undertaking a recognised apprenticeship qualification, including Microsoft certifications, at the same time as working as part of the company’s software development team.

You’ll work as part of our team to learn about the latest technologies we use to deliver what we need, including C# within the MVC framework, supported by the use of test driven development (TDD), continuous integration using Team City and continuous deployment using Octopus Deploy.

This role will initially be involved in utilizing established development tools, guidelines and conventions including (but not limited to) ASP.NET, SQL Server, HTML, CSS, Javascript and C#. You will be responsible for enhancing existing systems by analyzing business objectives, preparing an action plan and identifying areas for modification and improvement, maintaining existing software systems by identifying and correcting software defects, creating technical specifications and test plans and assisting in ad hoc tasks relating to code refactoring, server management and maintenance.

As a Microsoft IT Apprentice you will be required to:

  • Learn how to collate feature requests.
  • Become a valued part of the Software Development team.
  • Help existing staff with front-end development using Octopus Deploy Technology.
  • Be responsible for extracting data and processing the extracted data.
  • Gain on the job experience and be able to utilize the skills you have gained over the duration of your apprenticeship.
  • Learn and develop skills in integration management using Team City technology.
  • Update software and systems development.

    The company require a bright, enthusiastic and hard-working individual with a genuine desire to learn and to build a career within the IT industry. You will have a friendly personality, be able to work as part of a team and provide excellent customer service. The company are looking for someone with a positive, highly self-motivating, can-do attitude from someone who isn’t afraid to ask questions.

    To be considered for this role, you must have at least a C grade in both GCSE Maths & English, and in three or four other subjects at least. You should have a GCSE/BTEC/A Level in ICT or at least hands-on experience with the workings of computers and IT.

    You will have good organisational skills, excellent communication skills and a brilliant telephone manner.

    You will have a good telephone manner and a positive outlook.

    You will be willing to work hard and eager to learn.

    An interest in IT is mandatory!

    Training Provided

    You will be enrolled onto the award-winning Microsoft Partner Apprenticeship Programme. You will work towards gaining the MTA Software Development Fundamentals, MTA HTML5 Application Development Fundamentals and MTA Software Testing Fundamentals.

    This apprenticeship is delivered remotely via a live virtual classroom using the very latest Microsoft technologies. These qualifications are globally recognised industry certifications and form the significant building block of IT knowledge for anybody looking to start a career in IT.

    Working Hours 8.30am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday

    Future Prospects After the apprenticeship, there will be the opportunity to further progress into other software development positions.
