Job Title: Design Engineer - West Midlands Type of Role: Permanent or Contract Salary Range: Permanent £30,000-£40,000, Contract £25-£35 hourly Company: - The business designs and manufactures high quality electrical and mechanical test and control equipment / systems primarily for the automotive and aerospace sectors. Having been established for more than 40 years their clients include OEMs along with first & second tier suppliers. The design disciplines of the company include the following: - Design and assembly of Test Rigs for Aerospace Industry. - Design and Manufacture of Assembly and Disassembly tooling for Aerospace Industry plus General Engineering Sector. - Design and Manufacture of Fixtures and Fittings for Aerospace Industry plus General Engineering Sector. Role: - We are looking to fill a Design Engineer role for a progressive engineering manufacturing business. - The responsibilities of the role will include: - The ability to develop strong relationships with Customers, Suppliers and Colleagues - The ability to integrate in a team environment with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Maintenance Engineers, Rig Build Engineers, Electrically Biased Engineers. - A good awareness of machining processes and supplier products is necessary for this position as is developing good working relationships with machinists - most machining of parts and assemblies is done internally - The need to work towards and have a good awareness of lead times from design concept to delivery is essential. - Awareness of designing and detailing fabricated items and working with a wide range of materials. - Assist in creating and contributing to Technical Documentation. Opportunity: - Autonomous role Key Requirements: - Sector background Aerospace, Automotive, rail preferable. Marine is also a background which could be considered. - A good awareness of machining processes and supplier products is essential - most machining of parts and assemblies is done in-house so a close relationship with machinists is required. - Proven experience in creating Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Lubrication Circuit drawings. - Proven experience in creating assembly models, part models, assembly and detail drawings, parts listing. - 3D Software Design Experience required essential Desirable: - Solid Edge (Preferred), SolidWorks. - FEA Analysis (Not essential, but an advantage).
